My mediocre Google skills shows this as still being only 6 volumes. Had it stalled?
-
@myskaros I now before your superior Google skills!
-
@the-green-death Not really Google skills, I just go to Bookwalker and search for the series name :x
-
@the-green-death There have been cases, where only one volume got released per year, so it's not that unusual. In most cases two volumes get released per year.

I'm kinda really surprised that this light novel or manga hasn't been picked up yet. I understand that it's an isekai, but one that has a lot to do with real world problems and not defeating " the demon lord". Still, I really would like to see it get licensed.
-
@lighthawk96 I think a big issue of licensing this LN is the usage of very specific medicine-related terms. Anyone who's going to translate it will have to do a ton of research to get things right.
-
@Terabyte
Maybe, but the same could be said about all of these military-esque LNs that deal with advanced tech and the demon lord and such. You would have to do a ton of research to both explain what is going on and how it works, for both machanics and strategy. But I think it would be well worth the time.Besides, I think the LN and the manga do a pretty good job of expaining everything outright so it really shouldn't be all that bad.

The difference is it's probably easier to find a fiction translator who already has passion for military/weaponry/fantasy tropes, whereas it's probably harder (but not impossible) to find a translator who is passionate for medicine and chemistry. Or the ones who have the knowledge are probably already making big bucks translating/interpreting for the healthcare industry :<

I don't think the author is going to go all in with the medical technobable though. If the target audience of this LN is people who have PhDs already, then sure, it's probably not the most ideal choice of works to try to translate. But it's like in SciFi, they typically go as far as telling you it's a laser rifle, they do not expect the reader to have a background in military applications of laser technology in order to understand what's going on.
-
@myskaros
True. But wouldn't the original author have done most of that already? I know it may have it's difficulties but since most of it has already been done I would hope that it shouldn't be all that bad? But I may be wrong here. -
@jpwong
Yeah. That would be how I look at it. -
@lighthawk96 The author did all that in Japanese, though. Knowing how to translate it correctly, and making sure all the phrases and terminology make sense in context of the story in English, is a completely different matter.
-
@myskaros Is J-Novel going to license this series? I am asking you since you are a staff member.
-
@theo Hi there, we do not comment on potential or ongoing licensing pursuits! Whatever we have licensed, you will only hear about it through our licensing announcements.
Also note that licensing is a contractual agreement between two companies, it's not like picking up a can of soup at the grocery story :)
-
@myskaros Ok I understand, thanks for answering. I hope that this series (among others) gets licensed since it's extremely relevant considering the present circumstances. Keep up the good work.
-
This would be the perfect novel in these difficult times, I really want to read it!!!
-
A friend of mine and I have been reading the fan translations of this over the last week, we both enjoy it immensely and would love to buy this from JNC. So I am upvoting this.

An upcoming anime series for Isekai Yakkkyoku has just been announced!
