Isekai Yakkyoku / Another World Pharmacy
-
I‘m still waiting for J-Novel Club to license this amazing novel, it would be the perfect reading during the pandemic!
-
I seriously wondy why no publisher hasn‘t picked this novel up so far, it‘s great!!! Would love it, if JNC would license it, their translation (pace) is always superb.
-
@adelaideroseamaryllis So, I'm caught up to date on the manga and I'm wondering if the light novel follows a different path. I've read the summaries of light novel volumes 1-7 and compared it to the story up to the newest manga chapter. The web novel seems different too when I google translate it on syosetu.
Spoiler Alert:
-
@animeotaku5000 It’s well known that in most cases the web and light novel differ slightly from each other, after all the light novel is the official published book and often needs to be rewritten in some parts and also gets professional edited. There are rare cases where the manga is adapted from the web novel, but not in this case.
So I wonder, where did you get the assumption that Falma goes to another kingdom with the knights? This doesn‘t happen in the manga. So far he never left the empire (though he apparently does in volume 8 of the light novel, but this hasn‘t been adapted yet). -

I'm assuming it's because the latest manga chapter I can find
Anyway, gonna say based purely on the manga, this one seems like it would be quite an interesting read, not to mention it's on point given the pandemic. With the anime upcoming it would be nice if someone would be able to license it.
-
Now that a anime was announced quite some time ago, it is totally time to license this novel! I‘m so dying to read it!!! And like other people I‘m thinking this is the perfect read during the pandemic.
-
I‘ve been waiting for ages that this novel gets licensed! I hope now that a anime has been announced it will be soon. Out of curiosity, which publisher do you think has the best chances to license it?
-
Has anyone already seen the short trailer of the upcoming anime? Seems like the art style will be from the manga, not the novel. I‘m already super exited for it!!!

I just watched the trailer, cannot wait. Now if only the LN gets picked up.
-
Bumping this because of the anime. Quite interesting! LN and Manga licenses are up for grabs it seems. I'm going to read the manga, but will wait for JNC to license the LN before reading that. :)
-
I have recently finished reading the web version of this novel in Japanese [being completed recently] and I must say it is not a simple thing to handle.
-
Imagine my surprise when I searched the internet after watching the anime and found no official published translations. It has been a while since an anime has peaked my interest into reading its light novel/manga on its first episode, ... only to find there is nothing for me to buy?
-
@BunnyFuFu
First episode was good. About what I expected. It would be nice if someone picked up the manga or the light novel though. I'm kinda surprised that no one has yet to be honest. -

This is interesting. It’s getting an anime but the series has not been commercially licensed?
-
Considering it even has an anime now, I'm thinking there are 2 possible issues as to why it's not licensed yet:
- Maybe the huge amount of medical terms makes it a hard-to-translate license.
- There might be other issues we don't know about. A possible reason could be that the JP publisher is asking for an absurd amount of money to license it and nobody is willing to pay that much. (The very same thing happened with Knights & Magic for example.)
-
@marcus_atticus It sounds like the Isekai Yakkyoku we're familiar with and requesting here is the 4th part of a 5 part ongoing series and the 4th and 5th parts are licensed in Japan, but not parts 1-3. There could be some reluctance on English publishers to latch onto the title if there's going to be some big reveal towards the end of the part about this because what do you do then? It's not like in Japan where readers who are interested in the rest of it can just hit up Syosetu and read the unlicensed parts. Plus since parts 4 and 5 are licensed to different companies in Japan, if you wanted the subsequent part it's going to be negotiating with someone completely different.
-
@jpwong Thanks for explaining the nuance. The premise and story looks appealing thus far. I’ll be keeping up with the anime for sure.
-
@jpwong Honestly, I absolutely don‘t care about it, I just want to read and enjoy this part. If there are more installments which aren‘t even licensed in Japan, so what!!! After all, what you don‘t know doesn‘t disturb you. You can read this part perfectly fine as a standalone. Currently it also looks like the anime has quite the rise in popularity, it‘s really time for the novel to finally get licensed.
-
@Silver-Sugar-Duchess I mean based on what c933103 indicated while the part is pretty much entirely standalone, the problem is that near the end it does reveal this is part of a larger ongoing story. The anime is going to get around that because they simply won't animate those bits of information if it even gets that far. Same with the manga. But with LN you have a bit of an issue. They can't license most of the other parts of the series, but editing out the references is probably going to kick up a shitstorm too.
There's also the possibility no one's touched this series in any form because whoever owns the license wants way more money than anyone is willing to pay. This wouldn't be the first series where it's gone by the wayside because of how much it would cost to license.
-
@jpwong But it could turn out that in the light novel version this little part will be omitted, or slightly rewritten. Well, I could imagine it, since most of the other parts aren‘t even licensed in Japan and it‘s not clear if the following parts will ever get licensed, too. And it looks like the fifth part stopped releasing after just one volume.
I‘m also thinking similar to you, that the anime probably won‘t come that far for these details to matter, or it will be omitted/changed/rewritten completely, same with the manga.
I just hope the international licensing doesn‘t fail, because the publisher wants way too much money, it would really be a pity...At least it seems like in my country the anime got licensed, they recently announced that it will get a German synchro.
