One of the things I like about J Novel Club is that you guys bring over good stories that haven't been adapted into anime. However, the only LNs that I know of that haven't been translated into English are those with an anime, so I'm in a bind there. If I had to pick from ones with an anime, it would be:
The Legend of Legendary Heroes
Madan no Ou to VanadisHowever, there's probably a snowball's chance in hell of Legend of Legendary Heroes getting licensed, because it's so long.
So instead, I'll use this. Please pick something that is a darker and more serious with a fantasy or sci-fi setting (other world or not, either is fine) and has a protagonist with a character arc. The Faraway Paladin, Grimgar, and Bluesteel Blasphemer are good examples of this.
-
@Eins Ho ho Madan is good, I recommend it here a few times. But it is sad that it will end with the next volume. (Still hope for a sequel) I know that Seven Seas have manga license, but it will be cool if J-Novel will get LN license.
-
Hi everyone! Crunchy's new licenses reminded me of a title I wanted to read the source material of: Library Wars!
There are a total of four light novels by Hiro Arakawa: Toshokan Sensō, Toshokan Nairan, Toshokan Kiki, and Toshokan Kakumei. They were published in Japan by MediaWorks.
The manga spinoffs are predictably skewed toward their shounen and shoujo audiences...meh. I can't find anyone who's licensed it for translation. J Novel Club seems a poignant choice to pick it up, don't you think? ;)
-
@Lydia-'Isidoras'-Rivers aren't those technically novel novels and not light novels?
I-I-I'm n-n-not sure w-w-we're ready to take that n-n-next step so soon...
-
@Sam-Pinansky Your body was ready long ago, now your mind has to take the next step :smiling_imp:
-
@Sam-Pinansky Yep, there is a lot of LN that needs to be licensed before you will be ready for normal novels :D
-
I'd like to request, "Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu" LN series or any series that comes close to the same plot. I really like characters with good observation skills.

Goblin Survivor from Overlap Bunko
After reading Goblin Slayer the prospect of being reincarnated as a Goblin intrigues me. Cause to Goblin Slayer it don't matter, all Goblins must be killed and never trusted.
-
I read all the series j novel provide, but there is one genre that is not here yet...war, the kind of Madan no ou vanadis...
Since it is so, could I recommend grancrest senki? It's from the creator of record of lodoss war and rune soldier loui...
There is a manga too by the same name if you want to know a bit about the story.
By the way, here is the synopsis
On a continent ruled by chaos, the Lords have the power of a Crest (holy seal) that can calm the chaos and protect the people. However, before anyone realizes it, the rulers cast aside their creed of purifying the chaos, and instead start to fight each other for each other's Crests to gain dominion over one another. Siluca, an isolated mage who scorns the Lords for abandoning their creed, and a wandering knight named Theo, who is on a journey to train to one day liberate his hometown, make an everlasting oath to work together to reform this continent dominated by wars and chaos.

@Rahul-Balaggan Actually, after you read GS, you never can look different on the goblins :D And vol 5 have a double of reasons to just kill them all.
@White-Cloud Yep, I recommend Madan a few times here. The strategy part is pretty nice and characters are pretty good. And, ehm, also harem is awesome :D

GS makes me feel bad about having Goblins in some of my armies in Warhammer/Kings of War.
-
@gocav Well, ehm I must admit, that I fight in Warhammer Total War goblins pretty often, after I read GS. It gives me some satisfaction when I see them die under my infantry + cavalry attack :D

My death flags show no sign of ending
Isekai tensei soudoukii'd buy these two novel in a heart beat especially the first one listed above.
-
I freaking love "My death flag shows no sign of ending". There is only a WN translation which has had 3 different translators and none of them have done justice to it. Characters names and such has been changed so many times, I can't keep track of it anymore. And the LN is actually a bit different from the WN. There was one important thing that the author changed.
I would buy it in the blink of an eye if it got licensed. Harold is my favourite tsundere.

Now that I'm looking at my MAL list I have:
Yuusha-sama no Oshishou-sama
Kenja no Mago
Juuou Mujin no Fafnir
Tokyo Inroaded: Closed Eden
Soshite Fumetsu no Regnare
Seirei Gensouki
Omae wo Otaku ni Shiteyaru kara, Ore wo Riajuu ni Shitekure!
Kenshin no SucceedMaybe lot other that I forgot.

@Hakomari My man :D !
LN differences ? do you mean the sword ? and yeah the name changes was confusing lol
Yuno ended up as Juno, Shido <> Sid , Lifa <> Lita , Ryner <> Liner etc. :O.It's unfortunate that they only sell hard copies at the moment or I'd buy the japanese version right away
-
I'd personally like to see Shinigami no Ballad/Momo the Girl God of Death.
For that matter, any light novel involving final messages from the dead, ghosts, the afterlife, etc. Not action-y like Bleach, though.
#ShigoFumika Pardon the lame pun. -
Yeah, I mean the sword. That may affect the story later on. The new fan-translator is really greedy too. He is translating the WN and still wants 10$ for an extra chapter on Patreon. I would honestly donate double that if he did the LN.
-
Considering you now have the author and the LN Label, really hoping they do well enough to consider some Outbreak Company!~~
TBH, though, haven't really been the biggest fan of Bluesteel Blasphemer. Much prefer the tone of story OC's anime had, so that's especially why I want it. But something tells me after browsing these forums fairly often that I'm not quite in the majority on those opinions.
-
@Nico To be honest I'd be totally down for Outbreak. Other than that I only see "Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara" that could be other interesting licenses under this bunko.
Then again I just skimmed through the list of novels, so maybe there's some hidden gems.
