MALDescription (from NU) :
How long I’d been here, I couldn’t quite recall. From this sorry situation, I as always raised my eyes to the sky; a sky in which the great, massive sun was clad in levity. Sunlight poured gently upon all. What a blessing it would have been for the world if only the skies could remain clear. For tomorrow too, and for all days to come, I was to continue to pray for calm. To endure for those who cried, with desperation I remained in prayer.
And then, one freezing, forlorn, soulless, stagnant, drizzly day we died. Or so I thought…
Since that description doesn't tell much here is a more complete one:
The story takes place around 10 years after The girl who ate a death god, on another continent, but aside from some references there's no real link between the 2 series. The story follows a girl name number13, raised in a church to become a living weapon for the sun emperor, ruler of the whole Libelika continent since it was unified a century ago.
After the program failed and number13 is left as the sole survivor she decides to go find happiness... whatever it may possibly mean. But on her quest, she is drag into the struggle for succession over the empire. Why I want it :
After reading The girl who ate a death god I had hight expectations for this series and I wasn't disappointed.
Like its "prequel" it's a mostly realistic war story with some touch of fantasy. However, "The girl who bore the flame ring" is a bit more about political schemes. The tone is also a bit less serious with more comedy, that said it still doesn't hide the horror of wars and the MC is nearly as ruthless and merciless.
Overall it's a great war story. Why I think it could be a good pick to JNC:
- It has the potential to appeal to a wide array of readers
- We don't have much war stories LN.
- It's short, only 3 volumes so not a huge risk but there's similar series from the same author and publisher if it turns out to be popular
- The ratings are good: 4.8 on NU with 89% of 5 stars and 8 on MAL.
- Enterbrain as already works with JNC (Kokoro Connect) and multiple times with YenPress (Log Horizon, Overlord, The Saga of Tanya the Evil, ...)
Also, fantasy stories about powerful female protagonist are gaining in popularity recently, so it could interest people who like "So I'm a spider", "JK Haru" or FUNA's stories.

Similar to the Girl Who Ate a Death God, this is a dark fantasy story that is more gritty and complex than most LN fair. It's one of the better LN I've read and it would be nice to see it get a proper adaption.
This is the sort of story that might appeal to people who like stuff like Overlord where morality comes in shades of grey and there is a lot of emphasis on big picture political struggles as seen through the lens of the character's perspective, large scale war and complex world building.

amazing series
-
It's a shame it gets so little attention.

This is an amazing story that I think falls into a similar camp as Deaths Daughter and Otome Heroine.
I personally think it's criminally underrated, also has the funniest epilogue I have ever read.
