BELOW ARE PREVIOUS HINTS AND EXPLAINATIONS FOR THEM (Not updated)
Below here will be previous hints used to announce titles, so you can have context to how the previous hints were used and lead you in the right direction for new announcement hints. For updates on previous reveals please PM me. Otherwise it will stay unupdated.Format: Hint [ / Hint 2, / Hint 3]: Title [ | non-obvious hint explanations]
- Something Grim: Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash
- Something Apocalyptic: I Saved Too Many Girls and Caused the Apocalypse
- The Ultimate Novel: The Faraway Paladin | Original title is 最果てのパラディン. 最 (sai) means the most (and ultimate is a synonym) 最果て (saihate) means at the utmost end (which is, again, ultimate)
- Ridiculous Premise #534: Mixed Bathing in Another Dimension | See synopsis. 534 is just Sam hitting numpad.
- Makes the World Go 'round: Paying to Win in a VRMMO | Original title literally has カネ (kane — money)
- First Comes Infrastructure: How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom
- Fractal / It Grows Down Forever: Infinite Dendrogram | Dendrogram is a fractal and it's usually drawn as growing down.
- At Least it's not an isekai / Red Vs. Blue Vs. Green: Demon King Daimaou | Also known as color wars, first three girls in the harem have red, blue, and green hair respectively.
- Long Title #6249: If It’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord | Was in 6249 people's reading list on Novel Updates when Sam made the clues.
- Fraction of a Galaxy / 4/3rds of a Galaxy: Invaders of the Rokujouma!? | Refers to The Tatami Galaxy/四畳半神話大系 (lit. 4½ Tatami Mythological Chronicles) four thirds of that would be six tatamis hence Rokujouma (lit. six-tatami room)
- Fate. Destiny. Tacos? / Did I say tacos? That's so 90s, I meant burritos: Outbreak Company | "It's fate. It's destiny. We both like burritos." is a famous quote from The O.C. (00s American drama series) hence OC (Outbreak Company)
- Not actually a part of the nasu-verse / You won't want it to end / Stop Flicking It: Yume Nikki | Original game has a well-known mini-game NASU. There's only one volume and it takes place in a dreamscape. To get a certain in-game easter egg you need to flick a switch lots of times (128 times on average)
- Nobody knew summoning could be so complicated / Juggling in Another World?: How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord | MC's name is Diablo. Diabolo is a juggling prop
- Ironically, it doesn't need a club / The flatter, the scarier / No Peeking: Ao Oni | Oni are frequently depicted with a club but not in this franchise. Flatter Oni are scarier in the novels. Peeking can lead to being found out and getting game over?
- Finally a female protagonist! / Now without the annoying fairy / Not Actually A Tensei: Walking My Second Path in Life | Original title and its fan TL could be mistaken for tensei because of ふたつめの人生/"Second Life" in it. MC is a princess who becomes a knight. The annoying fairy is a reference to annoying fairy from Princess Knight (リボンの騎士, lit. Knight of Ribbons) manga/anime.
- It happens to me all the time... / Hilarious Misunderstandings Abound: Me, a Genius? I Was Reborn into Another World and I Think They've Got the Wrong Idea! | People think Sam is smart.
- Half an Army of Evil / Not Part of the Horizon Series: Infinite Stratos | "Army of Evil" is ISIS, IS (a very common abbreviation of Infinite Stratos) is one half of that.
- They Usually Appear Around Lv 3 / Death Is Only The Beginning: The Unwanted Undead Adventurer | Skeletons appear in the third level of Castlevania. Novel's protagonist dies in the prologue.
- Not a light novel / A Personal Story: From Truant to Anime Screenwriter: My Path to “Anohana” and “The Anthem of the Heart” | The Autobiography of Mari Okada
- Better Late Than Never: The Magic in this Other World is Too Far Behind! | Refers to the end of title, 遅れる (okureteru, lit. to be late)
- Classic Millennial: Lazy Dungeon Master Protagonist just wants to sleep in his dungeon
- RTFM: An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Slave Elf Bride Original title has “how to” as a question. RTFM is a universal answer for “how to” questions.

Really hoping the grim hint is for Grimgar. Not too sure what the other could be though.
-
Grimgar seems to be a good bet, but something apocalyptic? If they go obscure like some of their other titles this could be super hard.
-
Well if we are going by titles this announcement the only Apocalypse in a title from either Overlap or Hobby Japan is http://lndb.info/light_novel/Ore_ga_Heroine_wo_Tasukesugite_Sekai_ga_Little_Apocalypse! (add the ! together with the URL)
Which is from Hobby Japan. Now I don't think it is personally since it's a 16 VOLUME SERIES ON-GOING
So it must be rather that it has apocalyptic themes in it, instead. Trying to find any that could fit the bid.
Check on both http://lndb.info/light_novel_label/HJ_Bunko and http://lndb.info/light_novel_label/Overlap_Bunko . Let's try and find one that might fit the bill.
-
Grimgar and Ore ga Heroine seem like safe bets. For anyone that doesn't know about Ore ga Heroine, it's like a comedy focused Rokujouma. (If you haven't read/seen Rokujouma yet, you need to.).
The basic premise of both series though is an MC coming into contact with various story like heroines with different backgrounds like aliens and magic. Rokujouma is a romance character development driven series while Ore ga Heroine is more of a comedy/scenario kind of series focusing on the absurdity of everything.
-
Little Apocalypse sounds fun and somewhere on here Sam P said that they'd picked up a long running title, so it could be that one. It would be good to have a title that I knew was going to go on and on and on.
Grimgar would be great, I haven't seen the anime but I find the "trapped in a fantasy realm" style light novels to be, on the whole quite entertaining.
-
I have no idea about the second one but I really liked Grimgar so it would be nice to see that in novel format
-
This post is deleted! -
Amazing that Grimgar is finally licensed officially! Now, to hope it gets caught up relatively quickly.
-
Time for us to start guessing again.
First title hint is "?The Ultimate Novel?" and second title hint is "?Ridiculous Premise #534?"
What do you guys think, this time around I think it'd be a little bit harder to guess which one it is going to be.
-
Hmm, the only one I can guess is Ultimate Antihero for the "Ultimate Novel" hint. As for the other title, I have absolutely no idea at all!
-
Ultimate Novel could be Eromanga Sensei?
I hope they license phantom world soon

I doubt it's Ultimate Anti-Hero as that's Kodansha.
@mattbasby about an hour ago
Ultimate Novel could be Eromanga Sensei?
I hope they license phantom world soonEromanga-sensei is ASCII Media Works and Phantom World is Kyoto Animation.
-
I expect it to be two titles from HobbyJapan and Overlap.
What the Ultimate Novel would be from them is a good question. Most light novels have wacky premises, soo who knows which one its going to be.
-
I definitely made the clues a little harder this time!
You might not be able to get either one before announcement...
-
If I list every single possibility, would you consider me having gotten it right? :3
It's fair to say that you didn't suddenly get another partnership so it's definitely from Overlap or Hobby Japan right? In regards to the Ultimate Novel, I could guess Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou although it would be spoilers to explain why it works. Do you have any spoiler markup? But then again, that's pre-2010 which "isn't your priority" according to the interview with CR. When I think about what series I know in detail of from Hobby Japan & Overlap, this one really does fit the Ultimate Novel hint.
Would it be safe to say that you wouldn't need to have read the series in Japanese for the hints to make sense?
The "Ridiculous Premise #534" is about as vague as you can get considering the majority of the premises being published about Isekai are ridiculous in one way or another. 10 nen goshi is about a protagonist with his entire house going to another world while still working. Lazy Dungeon Master is about an MC that becomes a Dungeon Master who wants to be lazy which is quite straight forward, yet ridiculous. Genjitsushugisha has the MC literally given a Kingdom to develop. World Teacher has a Secret Agent that becomes a teacher in another world. Skeleton Knight has obviously enough, someone going to another world as a skeleton knight. Yomigaeri no Maou is about a Demon Lord reincarnating in the future. This one is an interesting case where the fan-translation was DMCA'ed quite a while back. Arifureta is the main one I want, but it's pretty traditional compared to the other series. Isekai Mahou wa Okureteru! is about an MC who is a magic user from the normal world being summoned with his friends to a fantasy world with a magic system much more underdeveloped in comparison. Me, Her, and the Ballistic Weaponry is about some kind of reincarnation in space using antique weapons. This was all just from Overlap.
From the side of Hobby Japan, Maou na Ore to Fushihime no Yubiwa is about a guy that gets a monster girl harem. Gekka no Utahime to Magi no Ou has a conflict between Magic and Science with romance/love triangle. Although that probably isn't ridiculous enough by our standards. Isekai Smartphone is a fun series with a protagonist just being magic op in another world with the occasional use of his smartphone too. Yobidasareta Satsurikusha is about a psychopath like MC going to another world. Real de Level Age is something about a guy that raises his levels in real life and gets a harem. (Not isekai) Kou 1 Desu ga Isekai has a pair go to another world and one of them loves stuff like kingdom building. The world itself is pretty silly as there are monsters like cute mummy girls, cute vampire girls, and skeletons.
In the end, I went through a large list of series from both publishers and I'm sure MU doesn't have the full list. I can't even figure out which series would constitute as "ridiculous setting #534" so the number itself must be the hint although I'm not aware of where the number is used. For Ultimate Novel, I'm not aware of any series from either publisher based around "publishing" although there is one about a saleswoman and Otaku at comiket.
So yea, tough hints this time.

about "ridiculous premise #534" i think it will be this Kou 1 Desu ga Isekai de Joushu Hajimemashita ( i hope it is, its very funny and a nice story), from HJ
basically the synopsis is the protagonist first year high school student, Kiyokawa Hiroto accidentaly summoned by an ancient map, forced by the arrogant Lord of the castle to exterminate the vampire that has been haunting his castle. Unexpectedly befriending a girl from Mummy tribe, Hiroto skillfully managed to capture the Vampire with her help. However, he is soon framed by the Lord of the castle. Bravely and kindly aiming to be a Lord, the fantasy of summoned to another world starts!for the "ultimate novel" it should be Kuroki Eiyuu no Ichigeki Musou (the mc is ridiculously powerful) also from HJ, the synopsis is
“If a woman lies then smile and forgive her.
If a woman complains then be quiet and listen to her.
If a woman cries then gently brush her tears away.
But above all else - You are to never strike a woman.
Is that understood, my damned disciple?”That was the first thing the boy ever learned from his master. As a human being his master was very peculiar. One might say that he was open-hearted but to put it frankly he was nothing more than a hedonist with a personality that couldn’t be any worse. He was constantly womanizing and when there was not enough money for lodging they would be forced to sleep outside and live off the land. As a result, the brother and sister went through a lot because of this powerless man.
why i pick this? serialization, both has already reach 5+ volume

I think people are taking the "ultimate"... not literally enough? Or maybe too literally. It depends on the language.

Can't find kyuukyoku used in the title of any series. But if we change from looking for Ultimate in Japanese to Strongest, there are three series.
- Saikyou Gamer, Isekai nite Jikkyou Playchuu
- Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou (What I desperately want.)
- Sekai Saikyou wa Kazoku to Nakayoku Dekasegichu!
I'll put my money on Arifureta cause no matter what it ends up being, I'm hoping you change it to Arifureta.
Edit - Fixed one of the three series.
-
My guesses for ultimate are also
Saikyou Gamer, Isekai nite Jikkyou Playchuu
Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou
for the same reasons. But I also think
Shinmai Shachou no Perfect Game
is a possibility. I have no idea about the other title since it may be premise related rather that title.
