Acquisitions Speculation - General
-
I have no idea what the titles will be but I suspect one of them will be a single volume as Brave Chronicle is about to end and series of different lengths seem like a good idea. Always having one or two single volumes is a good thing for new subscribers, they have something to follow that they won't have to buy past volumes to be current with

Given the hint/comment above about the meaning of "ultimate," I started thinking along the lines of "last," "final," or "of the end."
That didn't trigger any good ideas for me, but I don't know very many titles, so maybe someone else would get some ideas from that line of thinking.
-
@hatguy12 Some that would run on those sorts of lines:
Uchi no Class no Tayorinai Last Boss
World End Lights
Shuuen Sekai no Savior CodeI don't think any of them really fit though.
Completely stuck on the #534 one. Only thing I can guess is that it's related to the premise of the series. In which case all I can say is that it's not something I've read...
Bukkyou Gakuen e Youkoso has the ID 534 in the HJ Bunko lineup and has a pretty ridiculous premise, but I doubt they would be that evil...
-
@kuuderes_shadow I knew random numbers would throw people off! Hehehe... Maybe it's just a book with a crazy premise which... doesn't exactly narrow it down, does it?

Yea, nope. Doesn't narrow it down by much. You go from maybe 500 series to 490. XD
-
@hatguy12 Now THIS guy gets it. Sasuga hatguy.

Just to wrap up now that the titles have been revealed (though not yet updated on announcements page):
Mixed bathing in Another Dimension was obviously the ridiculous premise one, though I don't know if 534 actually meant something or was just random numbers.
The Faraway Paladin is then the ultimate novel, though it wasn't apparent to me why at first. However, in recent discussions on the Kono Sugoi list, where it placed 19th, I noticed someone translated the title (最果てのパラディン) as Paladin of the End (for comparison google translate gives The Farthest Paladin). So apparently ultimate ('of the end') is part of the nuance of the word in Japanese, even if that was somewhat lost in the official English title of The Faraway Paladin.

@hatguy12 Oh yeah, I need to update the announcements page... Thanks for reminded me.

Per the latest j-novel club email, the announcements page has been updated:

Clues:
-Makes the World Go 'round-First Comes Infrastructure
Last two titles were from Overlap, so maybe one of these is from HJ.
Quick guess I have is "100yen Shop Ten'in ga Isekai Trip Shita Kekka." That's only because that may lend itself to the money related clue.
-
So I saw some speculation on reddit, the second clue could be referring to "A Realist's Kingdom Reform Chronicles" from Overlap. Looking at a plot summary, that sounds like it could fit the bill.
-
Harems make the world god around, so it should definitely be Arifureta.
... Yea, I know my dreams are dashed.Real guess would probably be something like Nidome no Jinsei wo Isekai de in which the MC has to bring something like "resources" or something which makes the world go around. I don't remember very well, but it's a possibility.
-
I'd be interested if it is the 100 Yen Shop, that series sounds intriguing
-
I've seen people mention Death Need Round for the first clue. That could fit with both the money and "'round" part of the clue.
-
Following up on the Death Need Round clue, I saw someone posted this on twitter:
I know it's just a PV, but it looks pretty damn cool. Kinda cool that Overlap was making PVs at all.
-
@lazyproblems She's sitting on a hamburger... What is this madness?
The trigger and the music and some scary mascot (clown) make me think of Danganronpa, but I'm just going based on the pictures in that video. I hope we get something like that (the preview is probably all about cupcakes and sunshine in text though, and I'm completely misreading that).
Wait...wait... Is that Ronald Mcdonald and it's a fastfood place? xP
-
@Terrence Haha, yeah, simply based off of the pv this does sort of have a similar sort of psychopop feel to it, like Danganronpa. Supposedly the heroine needs money to pay off family debt, so she becomes a mercenary. Her first target is supposed to be the familiar looking Fast Food mascot. :fries:
This looks like it could be both a fun and serious series, so I'd be all for it.
-
Sounds interesting. :hamburger: :hotdog:
-
@lazyproblems Yeah I looked into that series... You realize that the title itself is a pun on "Disney Land"?
It's nuts, but... it didn't seem that good, like... edgy in a bad way? I could take another look at it, though! (i.e. that's not what the clue is)
-
@Sam-Pinansky "It's nuts, but... it didn't seem that good, like... edgy in a bad way?"
Like Danganronpa and Future Diary? Sign me up. xD
I think I can guess what you mean by edgy in a bad way, but I can't say I'm not interested in the absurdity. I deal with a lot of bad edginess these days too in my media (Game of Thrones, Attack on Titan, Akame ga Kiru). Sometimes these popular series take the over the top edge too seriously.
-
@Terrence Maybe I'm just afraid of licensing a book whose premise is about assassinating mascots of very powerful multinational corporations, okay?! I DONT WANNA DIE
