No, please don't let them have Sevens! I want to do Sevens!
-
@Roy-Nukia Well, maybe you could also try translating for them and push for the license. Apparently the translator for Otome Mob pushed for it at Seven Seas and are working on it now.
-
@Roy-Nukia Then I hope we can buy it from you one day.

Nice, I had that on my read list.
-
At last! This has been on my wish list for a while. Even proposed this title to JNC. Just glad to get it licensed. Hopefully the manga won't be too far behind.
Aaaaaand just read the post on Facebook. Manga too! Yay!
-
What a pity that this novel didn't get licensed by J-Novel Club... I will probably pick this up though.

So uh, apparently there's this weird new LN publisher based in Madrid, Spain who's going to be publishing books in Spanish and English at the same time. They have two licenses right now:
- There’s no way a side character like me could be popular, right? (友人キャラの俺がモテまくるわけないだろ?), 1st volume releases May 29th
- Welcome to the Diner of the Exiled! (追放者食堂へようこそ!), release TBA
Digital will release in Amazon, Kobo, Google Play Books, B&N in both languages. Physical releases will apparently be only in English for now, and with some extras like short stories, according to this.
Frankly, I don't know what to make of this. The Spanish blurbs (first license, second license) look like they're bad literal translations of the same pages in English, but the English looks good. I just asked on their Discord and it seems they still need to edit the text, and they're considering making separate translations for Spain and Latam. I hope for their sake that by the end of the month the Spanish release is good, historically LNs don't do too well here.
(I don't know if I should have made a new thread for this. @Rahul-Balaggan ?)

Not necessarily, it is perfectly fine here, as other users have also posted about other publishers licensing in this topic.
If anyone wanted to make a new topic for this new publisher that would also be fine.
It’s a grey area where it can work here and in a separate topic all at once.

First two acquisitions both Overlap. Overlap seems to love working with new pubs.
They both had their 2nd volumes release in November in Japan. Let's hope they continue.

Volume 3 of
Welcome to the Diner of the Exiled!
has a release date in Japan of June 25, 2020.Just got announced earlier today: http://blog.over-lap.co.jp/shoei2005/

I'll definitely pick up Side Character as I want more room-com light novels and I'm pretty excited this new publisher is starting with one.
I wish them the best and hope that they put out good translations in a timely manner, market then well and give us another quality LN publisher.
-
That is.... interesting...
I can read both languages, but honestly it feels weird to me to read a light novel in Spanish at this point. Will give the rom-com a try once it's out.
-
@Crimson-Wise Hah, agreed. I only read fiction in English at this point.

going to vote with my dollars
pre-ordering this now because- more translation companies/projects/etc. is a good thing
- romcom...any other translation publishers want some more $$... =more romcoms please
edit to add: not available to preorder on Amazon (USA), yet?
-
@Jon-Mitchell I don't believe there are any preorders anywhere yet.
-
I will preorder as soon as I can on their site (sounds like it'll have lots of different DRM free format options to download there).
-
Holy... Overlap keeps tweeting the covers for Yuujin Chara, so I've been hoping for it to get licensed sometime in the future but I really wasn't expeting it to be so soon!!!
-
I'm excited another translator is jumping on the DRM-free train. That's the biggest reason I read so many JNC titles over other companies, and I'm glad others are following suit.
-
I hope Tentai gets their act together soon, I wanted to show my support by pre ordering but I couldn't even find the option to make an account their website.
