Seven Seas - April 2020 survey available!

Terrence

@bloodygaikotsu said in Seven Seas - February 2019 survey available!:

I ignore them 'cuz there are completely digital with no chance for print release....

I actually don't buy any English LN from Bookwalker (besides exclusives), but that's just because they have no Text to Speech support.

I spend on JP language volumes though, so they're still getting my moolah. T_T

If they got some license I really wanted, I'd buy it though, staring at a phone screen and blinding myself be danged! xD

You can submit manga license requests to Kodansha USA if you have any, you go on their website to the bottom of the page to the Ask Bot section.

The bot will eventually link you to this:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeHzCoGZ5cgofE-0d9fQ6kfC9psn-1EU4bKLngm_fSpcvl40Q/viewform

I usually just ask for things published by Kodansha in Japan or things from their subsidiary company Ichijinsha.

I wonder how do most people find out if a series isn't out in english yet? I sometimes check mangaupdates publisher list. But clicking on each series list one at a time can get a bit tiring. I wonder if there is an easier way?

myskaros

@artistofmanga Honestly, I just keep track of the industry closely enough that I generally "know" what's been published and what hasn't. If it's a series I'm not sure on, then I check wikipedia.

@artistofmanga Myanimelist often times has snippets of background info on their manga database entries and it will usually say if a manga is licensed in English and by who. Lately myanimelist has been lagging behind on stuff like that since the company was bought by the Japanese manga digital distributor Media Do so I guess taking care of the database must have been extra chaotic.

Ryu Heishin

Light novels:
Slayers
Grimoire of Zero

Manga:
Ushio & Tora
Moonlight Act

Aruseus493

I went with my regular:

Manga:

Gate: Where the JSDF Fought! - A rescue request since Sekai Project has fucked over the English license by never publishing more than one volume.
Angel Beats!: Heaven's Door - They licensed this one before, but only released one volume. So I always harass them about it cause I love Angel Beats.

myskaros

Finally did my survey.

Manga
- Darwin's Game
- Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru
Light Novel
- Accomplishments of the Duke's Daughter
- Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu

Changed Hatsukoi Zombie to the angel/demon one since it's hilarious, shorter (only 5 volumes as opposed to like 20), and the later chapters of HZ have been quite a departure from what the beginning of the series is. I still enjoy reading it, but I'm apprehensive of how it'll end, so don't want to keep pushing it then end up not wanting to buy it :<

Raitoiro

@artistofmanga @DoubleMangekyo seem to like making list:

https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/1703/english-licenses-sorted-by-jp-publisher?page=1

https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/1070/light-novel-counter-july-2018

i don't know if every serie is list, but it seem like most are.

Seven Seas revealed some demographics info and answered a handful of questions regarding their survey.

https://twitter.com/gomanga/status/1101237877000888326?s=20

There's a bunch of info there, but one small piece.

Of those surveyed:
68.2% read yuri
77% buy light novels

HamsterExAstris

I'd be interested to see how that 68.2% is broken down by gender...

artistofmanga

They have mentioned they love Yuri as a genre and its one of there big sellers so those stats totally check out. Its nice to see some charts and graphs about how the surveys are used. Looking forward to what they will license in the future. Hopefully the next batch of license announcements will have some cooler titles, there wasn't too much I really liked in there last batch of announcements. Lots of lesser known titles that people wern't aware of.

Hyperion

March survey is up.

Manga:

Otonari Complex
Bread & Butter

Light Novels:

Bokutachi no Remake
Fate/Zero

Terrence

There's also a giveaway on their Twitter account.

I gotta go back through my list of suggestions. Think I'll request the one on my wishlist that got a volume 2, I Decided to Go Out With The Pretty Black-haired (Unemployed) Takashina-san

That, and maybe that reverse(?) Isekai one where one of the students sleeps through the transfer and he gets left in the real world with powers.

BloodyGaikotsu

What I went with:
Manga:
Shiota-sensei to Amai-chan
Kekkon shite mo Koi shiteru

LN:
Shinonome Yuuko Series
Dousei Kara Hajimaru Otaku Kanajo no Tsukurikata

myskaros

Same as last time:

Manga
- Darwin's Game - sci-fi death game, people have unique powers
- Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru - angel/demon romantic comedy with seeds of action
Light Novel
- Accomplishments of the Duke's Daughter
- Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu

DoubleMangekyo

These four will probably be the titles I default to from now on.

Novels
- Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu.
- Shakugan no Shana
Manga
- Toaru Idol no Accelerator-sama
- Imouto wa Shishunki

Terrence

Hmm. Didn't do my March survey yet?

Thinking of going with...

Light Novels:

Hoodlums Loved By the Spirits

Mame to dangan o tsukatte isekai o buchinuku!

Manga:

Yankee Girl in Love

The Life of the Witch Who Remains Single for 300 Years!

Justus reminded me of the appeal of Bunny Girls and I have Yankee / delinquents on the mind after all the Machi Maho Twitter promotional fun last month.
