@Lily-Garden I don't know all the old stuff that was licensed but Earl and Fairy that was brought up seemed like a bad choice for a test series as it didn't age well culturally or visibility wise.
Maria even today remains a presence in fully parodies like Yuri is My Job and repeatedly referenced by other series.
and yet... v6 just got announced. I can only assume it was to keep the license channel open with Shueisha

I have no idea what their stipulations are for them to drop a series. Diaries from what I understand was selling poorly also before the anime (I'm assuming it is through the roof now.). It might simply be as long as a series isn't selling in the red they keep translating it. It would take someone who actually works at j novel to explain it. Chances are they wouldn't share that kind of details though.
Anyways a rewatch of Maria first season just finished on reddit that was rather active with comments for pride month. Though sadly the post themself got bot brigaded down voted for each one.
