My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! Volumes 12 and 13 when?
-
I really loved this series as an anime, and I recently wound up revisiting it to watch season 2, which motivated me to try and read the manga, but now that I'm caught up on the manga I'm officially going down the light novel rabbit hole.
I noticed on the wiki page for the series that the last two volumes, 12 and 13, haven't been released in English yet? (though to be fair 13 only came out in September 2023). Is there usually a year's delay between translations due to licensing deals? Volume 12 came out in October 2022. Or has the series simply not performed well enough? I'm buying the kindle books and reading them, but I'm dreading catching up and then having to wait 2 years or something before 12 comes out.
Its worth mentioning to staff that they ARE coming out with the Nintendo Switch videogame "My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! Pirates of the Disturbance" in English VERY soon, so you know, maybe there'll be a small bump of interest :P
I would love to be surprised by the release of Volume 12 before the end of the year!
By the way, staff, you have an Amazon search optimization problem for the light novel. When you search "My Next Life as a Villainess light novel," some random third party seller is at the top of the list for the print version for volume 1, making it appear as if the there is no kindle edition, even though it exists. I see that vol 1's print version is sold out, so maybe that's why?

JNC has stated before that they intend to finish any series they start, barring the publisher preventing them from doing so for some reason, or ethical reasons if a series somehow goes off the rails. The licenses also don't include volumes that aren't published yet, so once JNC catches up with the JP releases, new volumes have to be individually licensed. A lot of the recent licensing discussions have been hamstrung by the pandemic and just starting to recover from that. Another thing to contend with is they often want to keep the same staff working on a series, but once they catch up with JP, those people would be moved to other series. So even if they do get the license, they might have to wait for schedules to line up again to get those people back on it. So my guess is it's just taking time and we'll get it eventually.
JNC won't tell us anything about it until they're ready to release part 1, so the above is probably the best answer you'll get.

This is purely speculation, but my guess would be that they're having issues with Ichijinsha (the original publisher), since Marielle Clarac and Bibliophile Princess are also behind.
