I generally appreciate covers with cute girls on them but I always find these covers pretty creepy.
This series is also weird in that it credits manga artist Neko Yotsuba with the LN character designs, even though the first LN volume was out before the manga started on Corona Ex. No idea what’s up what’s that that.

depending on the timing - Yotsuba-sensei might have made designs for the characters which became the basis for them in the light novel and manga. there's generally some convo between the author, the manga artist, and the LN artist if they're different people.
