Of course, but there's tons of LNs which have the plot try to reassert itself, or have the protagonist change important stuff but still have their game knowledge be more or less perfect, etc. It's so common that protagonists actually changing the timeline beyond recognition within the first few chapters is pretty rare; and a lot of those are in comedies, not serious explorations of the idea.

This series, really. You got people with origins straight out of wuxia battling it out with definitely-not-Ronda-Rousey at an mma event while family drama and magical-girls-level shenanigans happen in the background, then comes the pro wrestling twist, and it all ends with how to use tiktok to promote your cheap dojo.

I don't think Noah's Charm Ability is having any impact upon Makoto.
Rather, it's her natural charm that is proving effective.
"Charm" is imposed from without.
'charm' is part of how you really are.

While Noah's Charm has no effect on Makoto, he finds her charming.
They get along, you know?

Sasa doesn't have a home in this world.
So saying you are happy to be able to go home together with her...
You saying that your home is her home as well?

We do need to bear in mind that Sasa did make herself at home at Makoto's back in Japan, so Makoto not thinking deeply about his wording is par for the course.
She was one of the few he considered a friend rather than an acquaintance.

Along those lines, consider who he does think of as friends among his classmates.

@aZaphos some of them were commented to be unable to continue due to injury or lack of motivation, but I doubt any of them would manage to journey back into the Wasteland without Alpha knowing about it. Only one was marked hostile, and they were "disposed of", so I'm 99.9999999% sure they're dead.

I'm not sure one can call it a "saving grace," but Zadu's pragmatism seems to extend far enough that I don't see him gunning for Noor in the future...unless hired to do so.
Noor and Ines prevented him from completing the task he was hired for, true enough.
There wasn't any personal animosity involved on Zadu or Noor's parts.
Ines...was also doing her job.

I'm pretty sure that's how Zadu will look at it.
He did his best to fulfill his commission, no one can question that.

There's no profit in seeking "revenge" over his "humiliation" when he doesn't consider himself humiliated.

Ines understands that shields aren't just for defense.
You can bash people with them.

Ines's primary duty is protecting the Princess.
By extension, aiding someone who ups the Princess's survival probability falls within her remit.
What matters is getting the job done.

Amazing stuff. Which I expected from the novels, but still...

@Windsagio Yeah, I can see "Murder the newbie before he gets too competent/threatening to the Orc Mafia who are my secret boss" being a thing he goes for. And I do want to specify secret boss there because there's no way the guild would have a positive opinion of him out of earshot if he was open about working with the Mob.

I've read the books, bits of the fantranslated manga, watched the anime, now I read the manga again, and it's still great.

At first I was thinking that yeah, it's obviously the manga that goes all in on the cuteness of it all, and then the serious parts hit and I when I say hit I mean hit, and I'm close to tears again. It's just all around good, hitting both the funny and the sad perfectly.

My favourite completely inconsequential detail was the picture of the "lost and found" box where Fiene got her magic wand, including a single sock and a teddy bear missing an eye. My favourite consequential detail was Art flying off from a single uppercut and Baldr's face as it happens.

Floof... fluffed. Mission Complete!
