Once the book is published, the pre-pubs are no longer available except for those volumes designated as "catch up".

I have no comment on whether the refund "should" be allowed, but if you're looking for a non-staff comment on the existence of expiration dates...

Yes, the expiration dates have always been there and the format of them has not changed.

In the first year or two, the expiration dates were sometimes inaccurate with a non-negligible frequency. But recently (at least a full year), I haven't noticed such inaccuracies, so I don't think that point is very relevant to the conversation at hand.

This was said by a staff (Rahul Balaggan) in 2019 regarding premium credits without after membership expires:

Short answer: it is easier to use premium credits when you are subscribed.

Long answer: it is still possible to use premium credits, you can email support@J-Novel.club and have them manually take the credit and add the desired book to your account.

Or you can manually go to the books redemption page and by typing out the URL and redeeming that way.

The last is easier than e-mailing, of course.

Hello,

After you purchase an e-book you can download that file by going to your account on the main site, and then going to your library.

After you download it you can put it in any e-reader of your choice.

The instruction would be different based on if you are downloading on a mobile device or a computer.

If you are on a mobile device after you download the file you can import it into the e-reader directly.

If on your computer you may have an extra step.

I really suggest you check out the first chapters of each of Infinite Stratos's volumes (at least, the early volumes which the anime has covered), just in case the novels aren't your thing.

Amazon did that automatically, and J-Novel has no control over it other than to submit complaints, which supposedly get ignored. What you can do though is perhaps go to the paperback listing for P2V3 and submit a “wrong information” ticket which should be slightly below the volume description and explain that P3V2 should be separated from the P2V3 listing.
