You don't lose the account, your books or credits earned.
Your account gets downgraded to free user status which locks out the members only forum sections, including the discussions about the current pre-pub books.
It also hides the "Purchase Credits" button in the 'My Account' part of the site, due to this being a Membership perk.
'My Library' should still be accessable, since those are books that you have paid for. At least it has always been for me if I took a break from membership.
When you go into the 'Titles' page and click on a completed volume, aka one for sale, the gold button on the bottom of the list changes from 'Premium' (letting you buy with credits) to 'Go Premium' taking you to join.

If you have 3 Credits available for your account and wanted to use those credits without taking your account to Member or Premium level again, someone would either need to give you a direct link to the purchase page, where you could spend your credit, or you could send an email to support, where someone would help you make your purchase.

Simplest way is to cancel your premium membership, then when it expires, subscribe again as a regular member.

As per https://j-novel.club/faq being a member gives you access to pre-production releases but only until the novel has been published (at which point you need to buy the novel). I have premium membership to get premium credits to buy the e-books at discounted rates, and for Grimgar these premium ebooks tend to include bonus short stories as noted by @Raitoiro

If you are reading a preview or pre-production chapter and it is taking forever to load then you may need to change your settings to enter 'simple' mode due to a bug in how the app loads graphics on some devices.

@guspaz This. The same thing happens on the Android app too, force stop and restart does the job.

The app doesn't support sign on with Google, you need to set a password on your account

@elfin-woodchuck it was made available for download a bit to early, typically premium ebook needs some extra time (up to 24 hours extra) to be released compared to normal ebooks, since Grimgar just released today the premium edition should be available by tomorrow.

You can still redeem the credits via direct links. (I include them in all the J-NC discussions I post on /r/LightNovels) _08 showed the base link above.

@jpwong Indeed, that doesn't seem to be included anymore in the newer volumes. I just downloaded some earlier and there isn't anymore our own username. But it seems to be random, for example I have it on 5 books out of 8 in arifureta (1+2+4+5+6). I guess there is some kind of replacement string missing in the master files or something for some LN volumes.
