There was a point where it was stated that you could fill up on xp all you want but until you did something massive that tested your soul to the breaking point, something that would win the favor of the gods, you would never level.
So sitting in a safe arena, dueling against others without risk of death might work for raising your stats it will never count as a great feat for gaining a level.
Bell truly was risking everything he had to save his Familia and the home he had gained for himself from someone who wanted to destroy it on a whim, for amusement.
Think of how hard you would fight to save the single most important thing you had if someone else wanted to destroy it for laughs.
Plus, Orario (i know, spelling) forced Ares to give up almost every single soldier that he brought in the invasion force. Why? To deny him the high class Falna they had gained facing against some of the top Familias of the city. So people know you can stat raise vs other people, but it seems to be like martial arts training in reality.
If you do not face opponents who are strong, you will gain nothing, and can even loose the honed edge of skill.

While I think Dendro to would be a fun anime to watch, I think it would get compared to SAO a lot. Not sure if that would be a good thing because of the size of the fan base or a bad thing because of the highly vocal critics of the series.

NeeChu would need to be done along the lines of Diamaou or Love Tyrant - very comedic. I just can't see that done any other way.

Realist would be fun to watch. BSB would be ok, until you got to volume 4. Then it will get painted with the same brush as Oreimo and Eromanga Sensei.

Just an advice but you should start from volume 1 because there is a lot of differences from the novel and also some missing scenes not shown in the anime.

The anime tried to cover 7 volumes of content so you can just imagine how much is missing and were edited to fit in a 12 episode anime. Episodes 1 and 12 basically covered the whole of volumes 1 and 7 respectively and the rest were 2 episodes per volume.

Omg you have no idea how much I love Hyouka!!!! I want a season 2 so badly but like you said, there probably won't be one anytime soon ;(.

@Sam-Pinansky Amazon has Comixology Unlimited as a service. Which provides unlimited manga for a 5.99 monthly subscription too. Not sure about the selection of Manga though however.

@Sam-Pinansky yes, I found it at the back of the books however I do believe I would have seen it eventually through google searches as that is how I found the English publisher for Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon.

The three books I bought was Little Apocalypse book 1, Grimgar book 1, and My Big Sister Lives in a Fantasy World. I loved all of them and was dying to find more info about future releases

@Terrence Albedo is my phone wallpaper haha. I can understand how Overlord wouldn't be to some peoples taste. Overlord is a really deep read, with what could be considered long periods of uneventful circumstances if you don't connect the dots (which I often don't because I gloss over things).
What is truly extraordinary about Overlord's writing is how intelligent the world and characters are, how the books convey their sense of scale, fear, awe, and sometimes just write an amusing silly moment. There's a lot of text to sift through, which is uncharacteristic of the general light novel scene. Overlord takes immense pains to craft a world beyond the character, to take those characters and let them truly exist in the world its created, they all have motivations, fears, likes, dislikes, and sometimes, exist without definite purpose, because that's what life is.

To me, Overlord is a window into something familiar, yet something totally unlike anything I'll ever experience, a grand stage to play out the dull intricacies of humanity with circumstances taken to the extraordinary. Most light novels are fluff like this one, where the world and it's characters exist to be shaped by the protagonist, to be experienced by the reader at face value. It's exceptional light novels like The Faraway Paladin, Overlord, and Grimgar that transcend the superficial experience. That being said, fluffy reads can be fun too sometimes! I'm reading Smartphone and I hope it doesn't get any more Harem-ie than it currently is.
