@myskaros Thanks for the heads up. That explains why some manga volumes on the expiring list started listing random dates for their expiration as well.

Dragon Daddy Diaries is adorable and complete.

I've only read the LN for Water Magician but it's silly fun.

Sexiled wasn't my cup of tea. It takes the misogyny to absurd lengths to make its point, but I suppose it's no more extreme than the over-the-top mistreatment of MCs in many other "banished from party" and "betrayed by party" LNs.

      @jazzyjeoff
Usually, I would advice against it. Maybe there is nothing to refine. But you passed to the second round and if you think you can enhance the story, then maybe it is not such a bad idea. But I think it would be best to continue your work and make it a priority to finish your novel first.

It has...my not having gotten that far into the series because I just wasn't into it that much at the time; I have purchased the first eight

I watched the Outbreak Company anime and mildly enjoyed it, but I'm way too casual about my anime and LNs to get into the ultra-hardcore otaku culture.

For example, I vaguely understand from reading LN that knee-high socks and a "thigh gap" is a special fetish thing for otaku but it's not something I care about myself. I just shrug and move on.

@karasutengu Crest of The Stars to Banner is kind of like Firefly TV to Serenity in that it established the universe and main relationships, giving the next property a place to start but leaving already existing fans coming in with already established events and characters continuing events and while not making it impossible to follow it won't give new viewers the depth to understand fully events or impact.

Or like watching Star Trek 2 The Wrath of Kahn with never seeing Star Trek before. You have to pick up the setting and interactions on the fly, thus missing the same emotional impact longtime fans felt at the end of the film.

Though in Star Trek 2's case those just watching the movie miss the experience of long time fans attempting to head cannon Kahn remembering Checkov's face when the character of Checkov wasn't in the series when Kahn appeared.

      Geezer Weasalopes

Many of these I quite enjoyed so far.
One I noped out of fast...had to force myself to finish the first section, it was that fast a Nope. ...I've already seen comments thinking it's da bomb, so clearly YMMV.
And the manga concerning Crow...looks like it will hit what the LN was focusing upon nicely, but the LN didn't hold my interest. It wasn't a bad concept, wasn't badly done, but slipped off my reading list for some reason; wasn't in the right mood, I guess. Anyway, if you enjoyed the LN I'd recommend taking a look at the manga.

@Lincelp Thanks for reporting! It should be fixed now!

@HarmlessDave said in Is It Foolish to Have This Many Catchups?:

prepubs don't get all of the corrections added for the final releases, so the issue might or might not exist in the ebook and (if any) print volume. Reporting things like typos isn't needed because the prepubs for released volumes are usually frozen in time forever.

I know this has been the rationale given in the past, but we still appreciate when it's reported, and if we have time/bandwidth we will fix it!

I noted this on the forums, and in Discord. After V5 The Great Cleric does come back strong and goes back to its OG roots.

All of the V4 and V5 stuff comes back later on to be relevant in a good way.

Others who dropped it did come back and say the same.

But yes, The Great Cleric is meant to be a slow burn.

I extend my thanks to whoever calls the shot once again, for their seems still to be an interest in dark fantasy, or rather, bluntly put, more sterner and more steely selections.
Looking forward to Revenge of the Soul Eater and Bullet Hellion. The former's something I've wanted ever since its inception.

The Skull Dragon’s Precious Daughter is adorable, and not much of a time investment. Would highly recommend.

I got back into Dahlia the last time it was on catch-up, so I might try Lucia too if I can scrounge up the time.

@anony-mouse99 said in J-Novel Club survey request:

As for English-sourced web novels, I’m mostly meh with it. It has to do with the world-view and cultural aspect. I grew up reading English authors.

Same for me. If I want to read English-sourced fantasy or SF, I'll read traditional novels from people like Sharon Lee & Steve Miller, L.E. Modesitt Jr., David Drake (RIP), etc. from old-school publishers like Baen and Tor.

Translated Japanese LNs give me a different set of clichés and culture, while English LNs and LitRPGs feel like an imitation to my snobby self. That's just my bias, I'm happy for those that enjoy them.

      I'll copy @HarmlessDave's format.

Forget Being the Villainess, I Want to Be an Adventurer! - Could not stand it. Barely finished v1, never gave v2 a thought.

Did I Seriously Just Get Reincarnated as My Gag Character?! - Never finished v1. Something just was meh. But I honestly never gave it a fair shake. I should try it now.

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles - I got to v17 before getting tired of it. I keep thinking I want to pick it back up, because I thought the world design was interesting, but I never do.

FYI, In Arifureta V5 P5, the wrong image is currently shown. It's currently an image of a bald guy lying on a sofa, but I think it should be Shizuku petting a cat. I think this may be something that got scrambled when you did your system upgrade a few months ago, the filename is consistent with the new naming conventions.

Since my last post, the largest gap - volumes Part 5, Volume 2 - P5, V11 have all been added, with only the last (Part 5, Volume 12) not being added.
The two volumes [[ Part 4, Volume 4 Part 4, Volume 6 ]] are still missing on Overdrive.

However, I didn't consider checking hoopla for books before!
While neither Overdrive or hoopla had a full set, each managed to fill the gaps in the other, so I finally got to find out what happened next!
Specifically, these two that were missing on Overdrive/Libby were on hoopla:
      Part 4, Volume 4
      Part 4, Volume 6

So, anyone else trying to finish the series but stymied by app availability might have a better chance if they check both Overdrive/Libby and hoopla. I did notice that different libraries had different stuff available on hoopla, so even though Bookworm is in the hoopla app, it might not be available through your local library. One of my libraries that had more of Bookworm on Overdrive, didn't have any of it on hoopla.

That does explain why it feels like offerings have gotten less variety. Though this is not very surprising.
