@Rahul-Balaggan May I ask why you say that one? It was just published yesterday and is from a brand new author (won the "Special Prize" in this year's overlap light novel competition).
It looked interesting to me as well but I haven't had a chance to actually read it, have you?

@Sam-Pinansky I have not read the book, I will say that the synopsis was intriguing, murder mystery is my favorite genre. The prospect of collecting books of the dead to reproduce past events, I felt that would play very well when introduced inside a murder mystery novel.
Beyond the interesting summary I am a reader that judges every book by its cover.
I have been reading for long enough that when I say I like the cover I will like the book and vice versa.
So for the most part it's just a gut feeling that this will be a good light novel.
Another title that struck me to be good is The Witch and I
Which is also fairly recent. -
I'm not sure if this the right place to ask if J-Novel club was thinking of licensing or translating Isekai Mahou wa Okureteru(The Different World Magic is Too Far Behind) but I would appreciate if you guys would look at possibly licensing. I think it has a very underated story it's definately better than some isekai novels already out there. It sucks how I've had a great time reading this and saddened by how the fan translations have been up and down or very erratic in releases. I hope you guys take a look at it. I know you guys have a realtionship with overlap the publisher of this series so hopefully this may come sooner or later who knows but I would definitely appreciate if you guys do consider it. Thank You!!

@Sam-Pinansky Just out of curiosity, was it the entertainment industry that drove you to study physics? Trying to Figure out how superpowers of characters work makes me regret not getting a degree. I had to watch a Youtube video to learn why movie Magneto is weaker than comic Magneto(his powers are based on ferromagnetism instead of electromagnetism like the comics, for those interested).
Also, your probably going to regret revealing this. Now everyone will be asking you how so-and-so character can do "x" in Jnovel's LNs. Then again, most are isekai so you can always just say "it's magic".

@Catscope Those prizes are so common* because they're basically the way that the publisher finds out about new authors, as well as giving them a bit of popularity to get started. Whereas in the west, if you want to get your work published you basically just spam it off to every possible publisher you can find out about and hope that they accept it, in Japan (for the light novel industry at least) the standard is to submit it for an award at the publisher of your choice, and if it reaches a certain stage then it may be published. This is getting broken down somewhat by the rise of LN-ification of Web Novels but is still the basic way that things work.
In other words, these things shouldn't really be looked at in the same way as awards run by separate organisations, or even awards for works that are already released.
