"Noucome"
Remembering reading the first volume, it was funny~

Chivalry of a failed knight (Rival, Asterisk War):
For me, both are kinda way too similar (sometimes, I keep forgetting which events happened in which novel)
However, as far as the anime goes, ex-SHAFT director, Shin's Silver Link. really did amazing job on it compared to the mundane adaptation of Asterisk War by A-1.@drone205 said in Novel pick-up requests:
Problem children are coming from another world aren't they(Rival, No Game No Life):
I loved the novel.
It's kinda different from NGNL and more complicated but I really like this one.
I even mentioned it on Seven Seas survey before.@xftg123 said in Novel pick-up requests:
Also speaking of mystery novels, it'd be nice to see "B.A.D", or "Beyond Another Darkness" get licensed.
The covers for this is so beautifulMystery + Psychological
It sounds like my type~ -

However, as far as the anime goes, ex-SHAFT director, Shin's Silver Link. really did amazing job on it compared to the mundane adaptation of Asterisk War by A-1.I say the Number one Biggest Difference and probably deal-breaker for most is that Chivalry of a Failed Knight has an actual Romance between The Main Hero and the Main Heroine whereas in Asterisk War the Main Heroine is just another member of the Harem. This is Why SAO and Kadokawa is so popular, he writes a romance between the hero and Heroine (even though you can argue that Asuna is just another part of the Harem after SAO-arc). If I were to just name one reason Why I continued reading Accel World it would be the Romance between Haru and Kurohime. Going back to Chivalry of a Failed Knight, I heard there is a joke about Ikki and Stella having sex when a visitor spots a condom on the bed. This is why it should be licensed.
-
@drone205 I've not read or watched Chivalry of a Failed Knight before, but your post has convinced me that I should. I definitely approve of the principal love interest over the rest of harem setup (Arifureta has it to some extent as well).
-
@dtta more important in world teacher, he be one of the few mc's who use previous world knowledge for a profit(food/ appliances)
-
"World Teacher" would be nice to license, it kind of rivals Rokudenashi (both started out in 2014).
Anyway, I want to also see this series licensed
Its titled as "Monku no Tsukeyou ga Nai Love Comedy". There's a manga adaptation of it, its from Dash X Bunko and it already is completed at 7 Volumes.
The one thing that surprises me is that the author for this series is the SAME author who wrote "Oniai".
-
Also, this one may be possibly licensed but who knows: Unlimited Fafnir. Its also under the Kodansha Light Novel label.
-
@xftg123 I read the manga for that on CrunchyRoll’s manga app, and it was kinda lame and generic. I think they also made an anime.
-
@legitpancake Fafnir is not as cutesy as anime make it to be. In fact it is rather heavy psychological series. I stop reading it though but not because it is bad just that the balance tilt too much on one side.

@drone205
I read like 2 vols before getting bored, watched the anime and I still adhere to what I said.
not just 'cuz he chose a girl right from the start, it means it's good.
The development and dynamics of the couple is really important to enjoy any romance (sub-plot or not), and this couple or even SAO's didn't really seem like what makes me enjoy or cheer them on. (Well, Progressive solved that)
Well, I dunno if Chivalry of a Failed Knight's later volumes made it better, but for now, I'll say it's just bland... -
That "Monku no Tsukeyou ga Nai Love Comedy" one has slick cover art.
-
-
@bloodygaikotsu The Anime has a whole Episode that focuses on there romance and they go through something a lot of couples go through (ep 5 I think). Also, They talk to each other about Sex and if they want to have Sex (They obviously have sex later since that joke I said earlier is in the books). I am just wondering if you like the Romance between Lawrance and Holo from Spice and Wolf. I would say the romance between Ikki and Stella is mature and believable for Teenage characters.
-
I have 0 evidence to back this up and to be honest this is 100% just my gut feeling but I seriously believe that 2019 will be the year JNC and Kadokawa work something out.
-
@drone205
Indeed, Lawrance and Holo romance is one of favorites along with Chuunibyou's Rikka and Yuuta.
I remember those episodes and even the scenes in the novel (I read the novel before the anime BTW), it was about not touching her till he meet her parents and they approve of the relationship, while she had a cold.
Well, that doesn't seem to be enough for me, maybe the characters themselves ain't so interesting for me to care...dunno
They ain't interesting or sweet to me. -
@bloodygaikotsu so you have read through all of Spice and Wolf then? Half of the appeal is the Romance. You can even make a reasonable argument that it is more important than the economics (but I will stick with both being 50% important). Holo And Lawrence have been flirting with each other for almost as long as they met (Holo did the most of it early on). for me, a Perfect Romance is not Perfect. Ikki and Stella have very different ideas on Sex, Stella wants to have Sex and is sexual while Ikki wants to wait until he is married. Ikki and Stella are not a perfect match they are awkward in the beginning and do not even act like a couple when they should, they were pushing each other away. Holo and Lawrence are not Perfect matched either, they get into fights and every now and then, they have personality traits that can clash with each other but they still get along in the long run. This is what I mean when I say a Perfect romance is not perfect, even chaotic sometimes.
-
@drone205
However, Holo And Lawrence have this charm if you know what I mean.
Their bickering—their presence together makes you smile, enjoy the idea that they can be together, will be together and are together.
That's why we can't help cheering them on during the difficult time or when they argue for real.
Ikki and Stella just didn't have a similar charm. It's just smth a bit difficult to explain...I guess.
-
@bloodygaikotsu I understand what you mean by that charm. The Romance between the two series are completely different, and one aspect is the age of the characters. Ikki and Stella can make mistakes Holo and Lawrence really should not for example Holo and Lawrence flirting with each other very early on. Stella and Ikki are believable Teenagers while Holo and Lawrence are believable Adults.

Well, I dug into my license wishlist and picked some of the non-Kadokawa novels:
Akaoni wa mou Nakanai
The 5th Shogakukan Light Novel Award, Jury Special Award Winner
Genres: Drama, School Life, Supernatural- Gagaga Bunko (Shogakukan)
Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita
- Gagaga Bunko (Shogakukan)
Seitokai Tantei Kirika
- Kodansha LIGHTNOVEL (Kodansha)
Kirika Hijiribashi is the Executive Committee Treasurer managing a high school's student council budget of 800 million yen. She is also the only committee member with an additional title: Student Council Detective. As shy as she normally is, she is able to sniff out amazing solutions to bizarre cases.
Hikage Makimura transferred into the same high school to escape living in the shadow of his brilliant older sister. Suddenly, he finds himself tricked by the mentally and physically strong female President into not only joining the Student Council, but also becoming Kirika's assistant, to the dismay of them both.
Can he create happiness for himself, much less others, in the midst of money-motivated intrigues? Can he make a name for himself when his own name is given to the the lop-eared bunny somehow filling the PR position, a rank higher than his own? And when will people stop asking him to betray a position he never wanted in the first place!?
Kinda similar to Hyouka, solving small-scale mystery cases with some drama here and there.
Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai (I Want to Eat Your Pancreas)
- Futabasha
One day, I – a high schooler – found a paperback in the hospital. The “Disease Coexistence Journal” was its title. It was a diary that my classmate, Sakura Yamauchi, had written in secret. Inside, it was written that due to her pancreatic disease, her days were numbered. And thus, I coincidentally went from Just-a-Classmate to a Secret-Knowing-Classmate. It was as if I were being drawn to her, who was my polar opposite. However, the world presented the girl that was already suffering from an illness with an equally cruel reality…

Ryukishi07. Period. -
@bloodygaikotsu anything associated with the When They Cry series and Ryukishi07 is a must buy for me. Even the mediocre-at-best Ookamikakushi.

This novel that has the Grimgar artist working on it is up to volume 3.
"Mercenary Story"

Publisher is... Ichigo Shobo?
That artist has a lot of different series, though most short compared to Grimgar. Here's a link to the different works she has drawn for.
