Novel preferences: themes start too scrolled to the right, text wrapping is messed up, can't scroll the options On logout, the screen correctly shows the error, but shows a nonsensical "Retry" button that's just going to fail. Could it be changed to a "Login" button that's takes you to the login page?

@strangeattractor said in Future Volume Release Schedule:

I was way more worried about volumes not being on the schedule and the lack of information when I was new to J-Novel Club. Over the past few years, I've accumulated a lot of trust in J-Novel Club. They haven't voluntarily given up on translating and publishing a series, not even once.

It is an extraordinary organization. I started out basing my expectations on what other publishers are doing, and my expectations have been exceeded all over the place.

Totally this. I'm a lot more relaxed about JNC publications due to the company's excellent track record as well as their being more open and responsive than most publishers.

@admin I have not thought about this before... but yeah, I agree, that makes sense. Series is oddly plural sounding in this context. Defective nouns kinda suck sometimes.

i'd like to add a gripe that sometimes it gets "stuck" on a specific chapter you already finished reading and even after you read past it, it won't show your progress.
in general i love the idea of "continue reading" and think it's a great addition to the site, but it needs work.

Thank you both for the quick replies and the detailed explanations. They were very informative and I understand how it works better now.

Yes. DRM-free ebooks with bonus stories is amazing.

I think the primary challenge JNC would have moving into the Korean market is they likely have limited to no contacts with any of the existing publishers over there. Quality KR to EN translators could also be an issue, but probably a smaller obstacle. Unless it's something they've already been doing behind the scenes already, I can't see that anything could happen in the short term, as Bookworm puts it, you have to ensure the groundwork is laid out before taking a major step like that.

That said, if you're really looking to try and get a print edition of DoD, you might want to see if you can try to steer Yen Press in that direction. Their Ize press label is already printing some KLNs like Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, so they clearly have relationships with Korean publishers right now. I believe Publang got the manhwa print license (though I've yet to see anything beyond the announcement so far which happened at ANYC 2025...)

The redesigned calendar widget on the home page behaves worse than the old one where I live. I live in a timezone that has most releases at +/- 6 hours around midnight. The old one didn't care about the date rolling over, it just displayed the set amount of recent and upcoming releases.
But with this new one, when it passes midnight, it yeets the previous releases into the ether and shows the next two full days instead. So if I want to go check up on a part release that happened at 22:00 but it's past midnight, I need to go to the calendar page to find it.

Then there's it being slow to appear, but maybe the previous one was also slow and it was masked by it being ready by the time you scrolled down. The new one also populates the url bar with a "?tz=" variable, but that's an aesthetic quibble. Mobile browsers tend to hide the

@Luigi2262 this. And a small calendar of coming up release are something I have always missed in the app.

@Lily-Garden Also, you want to download the purchased epubs from the user page, that gets you the full final published copy with any corrections that have been made. If you access it from the series page that takes you to the prepub version that was available prior to being officially published, which is usually missing some things like color images at the front and sometimes extras like side stories, and is often missing some corrections.

@Ingraman - thanks, I figured out where the forum settings are (I was looking for a gear icon) and went to Windows Chrome where the reader settings appeared -- I couldn't make them appear in iPad Chrome but that might be user error :)
