Number of Volumes
2 and only 2. As of now, there are unfortunately no plans for further LN volumes. However, that also makes it a nice short license. Of course, I would love if JNC would then license the WN to continue the story, but I know that that's an unlikely possibility and this series is probably not going to be the one that makes that possibility a reality.

Web Novel?
The web novel for this series was started in May 2019 and is still being updated on Syosetsu to this day and is up to 458 chapters. The fan translation—which is pretty poorly written btw; people would absolutely pay for a better version written by a professional—is not caught up and my Japanese is terrible, so I have no idea how close or not close it is to being finished.

Manga?
It did get a manga that ran for 4 volumes from 2020 to 2021, the English fan translation of which was fairly popular. Interestingly, it had a different subtitle: "Boy Meets Satan", rather than the longer one of the light novels. It was illustrated by Yona Etou (Twitter) and ran in Comic Earth Star. It has its own website as well. I know JNC is doing some manga now, so I would love for them look at licensing the manga too, though this post is specifically about the LN.

Synopsis
Earth, the son of the hero who defeated the Great Demon King, is troubled. Everyone always expects him to be the best, but he's unable to meet those expectations. No matter the effort he puts in, no matter the results he obtains, it's never enough for them.
"You're a disappointment compared to your father."
"Don't you know you're the son of the hero!?"
Living every day like this, Earth meets his destiny in the room containing his father's sword.
"Interesting. I will train you. I have only free time now.”
Earth receives special personal training from the Demon King to get back at his parents and the world.

My Thoughts
This is just such a great series all-around! Earth is a great and compelling main character, and it's rare for me to really like the protagonist of a series. I like the plot, the romance, the action. I bought all 6 Japanese volumes (2 LN + 4 manga) and I would love to have English LN volumes sitting alongside them on my bookcase. I also love how all of the main characters are named after English words, like "Earth" and "Hero" and "Rival" and so on. It's just really funny. Anyway, I super love this series and hope it gets picked up.
