@doceirias the problem with Zeroth Maria is that everyone apparently read the fan translation, but aren’t buying the official one. It’s the number 1 most popular LN on MyAnimeList, but it’s sales on YP are kinda average at best.

Also to answer OP, Realist Hero was apparently kinda a medium seller in Japan, but it’s sold crazy in English (I think it still sells better in Japan though, since the target audience is so much larger in Japanese).

It is without a doubt seen as an "upgrade" when writers go from Dengeki Bunko to Media Works Bunko.

Dunno, it seems for authors who don't wanna write fantasy action, ridiculous Romcom, or any story that specifically targets gamers or otakus but still wanna be connected to the medium.
Like majority of authors who went to MW are like Mikage, prefer writing mystery or drama or psychological or anything different from regular LNs stuff, especially older authors like Keiichi Sigsawa or Shinjirou Dobashi.

The French market for light novels seems quite small, since there are so few French light novel publishers, and those that do exist are extremely slow in their releases (some of them doing only one volume per year even for very popular series). If there was a ton of demand, there would be more companies publishing them.

That said, I've heard rumours of a new French light novel publisher starting up, we'll see where it goes...

I was unaware of that, I may have to give the manga a try. I loved the anime and wanted to continue the story, but when I looked into the light novel, all I saw was people fussing about the end of the story. I ended up breaking my own “don’t spoil it” rule and I hate the ending to Haganai.

I love having the bonus/side stories. Like @raitoiro I haven’t found the recent Grimgar to appealing, but the earlier ones from that series as well as almost any I’ve read from other series have been great.

@errantknight The issues you mentioned aside, the web novel that's out there is radically different than what was published in volume 2 and goes even further away from it. To say the author lost the plot may not be inaccurate.

Well, there are still arranged marriages that happen today, just not a thing in the Western world. Though I it is not that common anymore worldwide but it is still a thing. I also think that smartphone and realist hero are not forced in that regard either. Sure the princesses parents want her to marry the MC (also in smartphone, it is the princess that wants to marry and the parents are fine after hearing her reasons) but it isn't like the MC is just emediatly on board with it. Heck in smartphone they don't get engaged till like volume 3.

Finished Unnamed Memory last night. Gosh, what a gem. It completely scratches my "cute romance in a fantasy setting" itch, but even more than that, I'm just really impressed with the character writing. Every interaction is so nuanced, I can feel their emotional distance.

From the list in the OP, I'd be down for more rom-com, harem or otherwise, any setting.

I'd like to look at some and make a more informed opinion sometime, but what comes to my mind is I think both LN & manga V1s of that kanojo flag, er, If Her Flag Breaks one. Mostly because I was gonna check the anime out when it came around, but I was too disappointed by the art compared to those covers, which is usually not the case, to that extent at least.
