Pretty much skipped this volume. After the ominous ending of book 4 I had a few quick peeks at WN and it seemed like slice-of-life that I loved turned into heavy drama / wholesale slaughter. Only checked out the ending to read about the certain returning character. Maybe I'll pick up some future volumes if things turn lighter again, but otherwise it's another semi-dropped series. But at least there were a few fun volumes to remember. :)

For example, there are 2 parts of Outbreak Company Vol. 9 available, however the ebook of volume 8 doesn't come out for a few more days...

Yes there will be, as for when they will release I don’t think there is an official date on 17 for now, but Smartphone comes out in Japan at a fairly reliable and fast pace.

V16 just came out 2 weeks ago so it is still gonna be 3 or so months probably at the soonest...

@galactuskahn24 yeah, the guys that were originally doing the translation, took it down when JNC picked it up. But when JNC said that they had dropped it, they picked it back up again. I've read vol 4 and 5 on it and it wasn't too bad a translation. It's done by the same group that do hachinan tte. If your looking for it, you can get the links through NovelUpdates.

This novel makes waiting months feel so worth it tho. Also makes you realize time flys ode fast. Also reminds me slime next volume is out next month I think.

It’s funny that you mentioned this, but labeling a volume as x.5 instead of just a ss volume is actually a relatively recent phenomenon intended for boosting sales in Japan. The consensus is that ss volume will almost always undersell the main series, with some fall as low as just 1/3 of the numbered volumes. Labeling something as x.5 boosts sales, at least anecdotally.

Didn't catch this thread the last time through, but don't really get a chance to scan the forums as much as I'd like. On this, I'd have to say something of a variation from the story. I don't want it to be a spoiler, but it's nice if it can at least fit current events. Having said that, most of the images which have a lasting effect on me from light novels are those which are used for character introductions/additions. As I'm reading, I like having at least a face to attach to who I'm reading about. Especially in stories like Rokujouma, where there are an infinite number of characters, or Smartphone, where the wives-to-be and their families to keep track of, having a visualization of new characters in the opening art are probably those which I most appreciate. In volumes which include these, I tend to check them several times.

Maybe give a second try to some of the reject when they're in catchup, one part isn’t really enough to juge a serie, for exemple Grimgar start quite slow.
Looking at what you like, maybe try "If it's for my daughter" for some fantasy slice of life (and some more serious stuff later on) or "Potion loli", "Me a genius" and "Lazy dungeon master" for slice of life with comedy.
Not taking into account what you like, "The faraway paladin", "Last and first idole" and "Infinite Dendrogram" are good JNC title.
In non JNC "I was reincarnated as a vending machine" seem is stupid but also really fun, you could like it despite the odd premise.
It's not published yet but "Tensei shitara ken deshita" is a good laid back adventure with comedy and cuteness, the LN should be publish later this year.
And it's less similar to what you like but "So I'm a spider so what" is fantastic.

This is sort of a duplicate topic but no one has reported it so I guess I will leave it open...?
