I think that error may mean that it's a problem with 3D secure which JNC currently doesn't use (it's on their to do list). I'm not sure anything can be done if that's the issue at least until the payment part of the site gets updated.

Most of the time all I get is the generic "thanks for submitting this, we'll forward it to the appropriate translation team" thing.

But there was one time where they really did disagree with my suggestion, and emailed back concerning why they disagreed concerning it being in error.
It was a really weird section of text in how it could be interpreted, whether it was spoken aloud or a mental thought to self, and that was made worse by the title of a book showing up as part of it; book titles go in italics, and if it was spoken that's how it should display, and if a mental think... it was a truly weird formatting issue, to put it mildly.

But they discussed it with me.
They disagreed, and still disagreed at the end of it all, but they didn't round file it when they decided they disagreed, they informed me as to why they weren't in agreement.

That impressed me.

These days, my submissions tend to be screen prints with highlighted text and text boxes explain what I see as the problem.

Basically all light novels in america have tuesday releases. Well, physicals at least, digitals are less constrained by shipping and inventory and such.

Amazon also has difficulties with consistency in ordering name components of Japanese authors in romaji format; they will have part of a series attached to [Latin Alphabet: Last Name First Name], and part to [Latin Alphabet: First Name Last Name], and of course they will only accept the word of those authors that it's the same person.

AFAIK failed payment means that you'll keep your membership status for a couple of days while they try to charge you again. After a few unsuccessful attempts it will simply downgrade you to from expired (still kind of member) to user (non-member) and you can resubscribe after that.

Just wanted to chime in that _08 is correct; once Stripe has sent an invoice out for collection, there's no way for us to recall it, so it'll just keep trying to charge your now-invalid card every couple days. Once the 3rd attempt fails, your subscription will be automatically canceled, at which point you can sign up for the normal membership if you wish.

@myskaros I don't have to bother with that... Running my own mail servers, I can generate aliases as needed. The one I use for JNC is unrelated to any others I use.

My mail program allows me to manage them just fine. It also makes it simple to figure out who's database got compromised when the spam (or threat) emails start flowing.

"Salted" emails are a bit of a pain for me, as a forum moderator. The same spammers hit relentlessly by simply adding periods within their gmail addresses. If I thought I could get away with it, I'd pre-ban all gmail.com addresses.

@basuga you can use credits on preordering books to access their prepubs (including as they come out). It's not great for trying new series, but at least helps you follow your existing favourites.

@lyokoninja We're aware that this is not ideal and looking into a solution; check back later this year to see if anything has changed!

@solusvenator The other 2 are fine on my end. The only issue I've seen is the use of placeholder chapter lengths in the meta data for all manga chapters in volumes that started prepub in December or later.
