Unfortunately, that's out of our hands. Amazon resize and recompress all epub graphics uploaded to them and don't provide a way for companies to override their algorithms if there's a problem. They also don't provide a specification sheet which would allow us to submit a version which we know works.

I'm really sorry. The best I can tell you is to ask Amazon for a refund because they screwed up the book after uploading and then buy it from any of our other partner stores (Kobo, Apple Store, Google Play, Bookwalker) as none of them manipulate the images. Comixology does have some magic process which they run as well, but given that their platform is designed around the needs of graphic novels and comic art, the image quality will be non-deteriorated and our books are configured to work with Guided View.

At J-Novel Club they translate new volumes of licensed titles for members to read, after the book has been fully translated they release it as an e-Book. Shortly after the e-book is made available for purchase it becomes unavailable (except for the preview parts) for members to read. Every month J-Novel Club offers catch up titles, these are select titles where all currently translated volumes are made available for members to read.

As noted above last month Grimgar was part of the select catch up titles made available. This month they have titles available for January and Fenruary - https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/2900/starting-off-2020-with-2-months-of-catchups

When they introduce new titles the former month's titles go back in the vault, eventually all of Grimgar will go on catch up again, but it may not be soon, and it may not even be this year.

Only Amazon has banned that volume in Germany. Germans can still buy it on Kobo, Nook, Bookwalker, iTunes, Google Play, and Premium.

I hope this information help other newbies to get around here more easily by having the information and impression collected here.

As for as it is: there is no work around without a credit card. Either getting a virtual one, an electron one (called prepaid in Europe), or a basic one is currently a must have for the JNC membership.

If you are using an European credit card, I can reassure you that there are plenty of additional security measures in place. While stripe is not as secure as PayPal, a combination with bank services does provide equally good security as PayPal does.

For example - since I am not accustomed with U.S. banks I am telling it like this - European credit cards use a three level domain security layer. Most banks have notification functions installed. I have to confirm transaction which goes beyond a certain risk level by app, and I am always informed beforehand.

Plus, by the legal terms of conditions, I got guaranteed that every transaction which is not originally mine, I will definitely get a full refund without any penalty, as long as certain conditions are met.

It is still much less convenient as PayPal, but as everyone stated it correctly: that is an unfortunate consequence of competition of the market. Except for China and Russia that is a worldwide desired standard.

Unfortunately @MattTheOtaku has not share many details about the error. To pinpoint what cause that, it would be helpful to know date of purchase and date of download. Eventually also the model of the device to check if there is a connection. @myskaros made sure that the current available version on amazon is the correct one with certainty.

Also, the "pre-publication" versions of novels that you can read free with membership are not the final versions that are sent to Amazon, etc. they are missing some fixes for typos and such.

Der Werewolf has some nice little bonus stories, but they are not as important to the overall story as the ones in Realist Hero.

Like the others have said JNC premium ebook are DRM free, and for series from other publisher as long as you don't buy it from BookWalker you should be able to remove the drm. Personally I'm buying from Amazon, removing drm using (SHADY METHODS, GOOGLE IT DON'T POST THEM HERE PLEASE -myskaros).

Maybe a hint towards that might be worth to put on the registration page.
