@mirage_gsm Grammar exists to serve the purpose of whatever situation language is being used at any given time. For a fictional prose work whose main purpose is to entertain, the purpose of grammar is to protect and enhance the enjoyability of reading the prose. Some of the grammar rules that might be used for, say, an official academic report whose main purpose is to convey information in a professional manner, might not be appropriate for a prose novel, and if the writer/translator/editor decides that the most enjoyable way to read a given passage is to break the grammar rules a bit, then that is their judgment. Obviously it's a judgment with room to argue to the contrary, but it's not a matter of "we must stick to the strictest of grammar rules for every official publication or else we might as well descend into total grammar anarchy".

Yeah I hate looking for lns to read on YP sites. Only way I find them really is if I know they licensed the series or on my recommendation list I get from googlebooks .

Death element in that game is actually something like slow acting poisons, so the story counterpart of that would be the kind of magic assasins find useful.

For the Demon Lord, I imagine him as something completely non human and uses hell-spawn magic that can't be learned by anyone. It contains darkness and death, but is also mixed with things only the Demon Lord can comprehend. (I actually took the evil element from another online game, DragonFable).

However, being darkness and death, the Demon Lord's magic also has some weakness to Light. Hero was not able to land any of his ultimate killing blows (that would've killed Demon Lord then and there), so when presented with the opportunity, he settled for the next best thing by casting a very powerful Light spell which takes advantage of Demon Lord having Death and Darkness element. Even though Hero was not able to finish the Demon Lord for good, dividing his magic into tiny little pieces is more than enough to say it's a victory.

But the thing is, attacking usually leaves you open to attack yourself, so Demon Lord, as a last ditch attempt, attacks Hero with everything he's got. He employs a similarly powerful curse that restricts the Hero from using full 100% of his powers (possibly ever again). Now his legendary strength is divided into 6 parts, and worse, each 1/6th is now a sentient being that can think for itself.
Not only do these 6 waifus hate each other (insert sexist joke here), they kind of think "I'm the strongest element there is, and everyone else is just a scrub. That's why I was the Hero's favorite."

That's why, instead of taking the usual direction of an adventure novel (the waifus journey to destroy all 10,000 Demon Lord remnants), the female lead first has to convince the others to join her cause, and the only way this could ever be resolved is by brute force.

So the focus of the story would be female lead challenging the other waifus in battle to prove her strength, one by one enumeration style, like the girls in Busou Shoujo or the Generation of Miracles in Kuroko's Basketball. Maybe sometimes she wins, maybe one time she loses, maybe she works together with another waifu to bring down the top waifu, who knows. They all have their own motivations and desires, and just tolerate each other at best. The character development would come from them coming to terms with each other. Maybe they can even recreate the Hero one time when they all work together, (and if they're too fixated on arguing, maybe a second Demon Lord emerges from combined scraps)

I haven't preordered either volume yet, I might as well enter this time around 😺

The novel is not out for pre-order yet so I don't know if it will cost 1 or 2 premium credits.

It's been availiable for three weeks at least. Same price as other novels.

I don't dislike mystery, and I'm certainly not inherently opposed to reading a mystery novel should one be licensed (as long as it's not also horror, because I generally dislike horror).

Don't worry, only 2 mysteries on the forums are horror (Shiki and Higurashi).

That said, I don't really think prose, or anything like film/anime/TV show is the best medium for mystery stories. If part of the fun of mystery is trying to figure out said mystery, then these sorts of "scripted" media limit that experience. At worst, you have the author intentionally hiding important information until the reveal ("unfair mysteries"), and even in cases where the unraveling of the mystery is done well, there's still the fact that the audience is railroaded as far as the actual process of figuring out said mystery, only being able to gather clues the way the protagonist does.

That's why, if you ask me, the ideal media for mystery stories are video games (or other interactive media). Good mystery video games give you the feel of being the detective, having to figure out where the clues are and how to get them on top of trying to put it all together. If I really wanted a mystery experience, I would probably rather get one such game than pick up a mystery novel or TV show.

For this, I have to disagree, it's all about understanding your medium and how to use it.
E.g. one of the reasons Another adaptation kinda failed (live-action was better but not that better) is the fact that the trick was based on the fact it's a book.

Each medium is quite unique and has its own element, understanding how these elements work and make use of them is a sign of a really good author/creator.

I thought Citrus was good (anime) I haven’t read a LN w/ “LGBTQ” as a major part of the story. That being said, I like how Pia’s Character (so far?) is being handled in Realist Hero.

I'll just say that taking in Japanese kids' media (especially the legendary stuff like Doraemon but not limited to that) is great for your pop culture literacy.

Also ups for Kitaro. The new show is fabulous (well, the older shows may also be fabulous but I haven't had the privilege of seeing them).

I had a similar issue on balancing over powered abilities with on race I wanted to create. The core concept was that they could manipulate perception, essentially having the ability to change how anyone in their range perceives the world. Not quite mind control, but perhaps a bit worse since the person is still otherwise of sound mind. Plus it's not just one person, but a whole population.

I balanced it out using social structures, both from within and without. I wanted to think on how things might evolve, especially since their powers also work on each other. From within, the race is deeply religious, with three religions that dictate how, when, and to what degree they use their abilities. One religion, worshiping truth and called seekers, all agree on a single interpretation of reality. Their abilities might alter perception, but never to a significant degree. The second, worshiping illusion and called weavers, tend to view the world from a personal lens, but they strongly respect others' perceptions as their own, and restrict any ability usage. The third worships both deities and finds a balance between them, but isn't particularly a focus in the narrative.

From without, things center around the fact that this entire race came from another world. The other races in the world are all terrified of them. So they walled the entire race in (literally) after a brief war, and established a police unit that babysat them whenever they left, using magic to make them immune to their abilities (but that has other side-effects). They also require them to be visibly marked in public. They're not particularly well tolerated so they rarely leave their designated land.

I've mostly stopped working on this stuff, but it amuses me to see so much of what I thought up come up in other stories. When I first though this story up (which is entirely several layers of isekai), I had never heard of the concept, and thought it rare. Clearly not so much any more! Plus I was floored reading Goblin Slayer and encountering the little side chapters with Illusion and Truth, because it was so similar to what I had thought up.
