General Anime Discussion (what are you watching now?)

I'm going to watch s-CRY-ed this week I think. I heard a little about how it ends romance wise, so I decided to pick it up to see how it goes.
s-CRY-ed has a light novel too, but I think it's an adaptation? IDK.

...I may watch. I'm guessing it'll end with her falling for her friend's brother... But I'll be rooting for a Yuri route! xD
Other than that, and catching up with the Age Gap Rain one and Scum's Wish, I think I want to watch Engaged to the Unidentified.

The first episode of Megalobox was awesome. The aesthetic and animation is very nostalgic and beautiful, and anyone would enjoy it, even if you don’t like boxing. I hadn’t been expecting to follow it going into the season, but I definitely will now.
I didn’t know about this (been out of anime loop) but it sounds up my alley not due to boxing but because of the nostalgic vibe. Going to look into it!

Here's another romance one I might look into.
I loved the manga of that one. Where is it streaming on? Doesn't seem to be on Crunchyroll, unless I'm region screwed again.
Amazon seems to have this one. It's streaming overseas in EU territories... But not on US Amazon yet. T.T

No hint of it on Au Amazon, and neither Hidive or Animelab have it either. They usually get all the Amazon stuff. :(

That only used to be a thing for Sentai and Aniplex licenses that were distributed via amazon in US and Canada. Nowadays Amazon (non-JP) simulcast means worldwide Amazon exclusive (which is a mess for some reason).
-
@_08 When you say the Amazon exclusive is a mess for some reason, do they get exclusive rights but then not release it everywhere? Streaming in Eu but not US seems weird as.
-
@smashman42 From what I hear, they frequently forget to upload things in one territory or other (wotakoi must me one of those unintentional "delays"), support is/was so bad Sentai decided to distance itself from them which caused prompt death of Anime Strike. Also, they don't seem do do any advertising which probably doesn't help a lot.
Like, Netflix is pretty bad with its moths-late releases, but at least they seem to do it for a reason (however dumb/questionable reasons may be). Amazon, meanwhile, seems to be running without any thought or proper resources given to it. -
I am certainly happy that My Hero Academia is back on. It was a recap episode but I was ok with that as I’d forgotten many details since season 2 ended.
-
I am happy to see two old favorites with updates this season: Steins;Gate and Full Metal Panic.
-
I'm hyped for FMP! That's the series that got me into light novels BTW, by the cast list it looks like they're going to cover a hell of a lot of ground. Even with two cours surely they can't finish it?
-
Is anyone watching Darling the the FranXX?
-
@g I am. Episode 13 was probably the best one yet. Can’t wait for it to continue. I swear “Eo To” was so adorable.
-
@legitpancake Agreed
-
Anyone notice that the theme for this new season is fujoshi? Between the romances, otome games, and cute boys doing cute things, there's like 10 of them. Hell, there's even an angsty vampire romance. If that's your thing, this season is for you.
But I want to give a shout out to a very special anime - Magical Girl Site. It's a little gem of a series that tries so hard to be dark and gritty, but just lands flat on its face. Now you see, I like that sort of thing, but this was so ridiculous that I was just going to say screw it and not watch another episode.
And then there were flying sperm.
I couldn't stop laughing. You win Magical Girl Site. I'm in. Show me why the hell there are flying sperm going to impregnate Shibuya crossing. This better be good.

@legitpancake So much stuff in that episode. Really anticipating what direction HiroTwo goes in now.
-
The best part of this week's episode were the 90 threads on /a/ raging at a strawberry.
-
@terrence Amazon has finally added Wotakoi to the US.
Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku -
I wasted this weekend rewatching bits of Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom (and the Phantom Inferno visual novel, which a kind soul has up on YouTube in English). I love corny, romantic drama gangster / spy stories like this.

Thanks. I guess I'll make this my watch for the season. =]
Edit: Oh man, this girl has some red flags. First, she's an Otaku who wants to be a normie (and wouldn't date a fellow Otaku), second, she messes up at simple tasks and people think it's cute...

Captain Tsubasa really pulls my nostalgia strings.
Wotakoi had a nice first episode as well, and as a long time fan, I loved that Monster Hunter gaming session xD. Fuck the desire sensor!!! I totally understand that feeling of not getting that rare drop while your partner that doesn't need it gets multiple drops!!!! That was so fucking genuine.
Megalobox seems to be a classic in the making. Every episode keeps me hyped throughout it all.
And my guilty pleasure: Highschool DxD. I'm not gonna argue about this, I just like the novels a lot for some reason xD and the first ep fixed a lot of the fuck ups of the previous season by retconing the Juggernaut Drive to be more faithful to the novel and completely wrote out that stupid anime original content. Kudos Studio Passione, you did good.

In random LN adaptation news, Isekai Cheat Magician is getting an anime.
