Acquisitions Speculation - General
-
Yeah....Inou battle and noucome is a good comedy focused series alongside henneko
-
When is there usually an announcement? Just curious.
-
@jeffrey.nic Either the announcement page https://j-novel.club/announcements or subscribe to the newsletter and you should get notified for stuff like that.
-
If you wanna look at past announcements (all of these are based on either Forum topics for Vol 1 or the newsletter)
-
Clockwork Planet parts 1-3 went online. No time for speculation this time.
-
This makes me happy, I read the fan translation and have manga at home. Nice Sam!
-
Surprised that Kodansha let someone other than their sister company into their walled garden of licensing.
Wasn't a fan of the anime though.
But I wonder what else Kodansha has that I might like.
-
They have LN from Rakudai author, Ultimate Antihero. That is a good one LN.
Also ecchi Unlimited Fafnir , Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu :D -
Kinda hoping for something fresh that haven't been translated everywhere else.
-
I wonder if I should read Clockwork Planet... I really like the anime, but being more consistent than I've ever been reading 9 books that are not any kind of comic... can I make a 10th and be okay with my choice, not knowing what awesome stuff is still in store?
-
@Nico Clockwork planet LN is pretty good actually. Anime is not really good adaptation. Also, there are only 4 volumes out. Sames author as NGNL so he have lots stuffs to do. (Vol 4 came out over 1 year back)
-
@sparhawk6 Eh... not really that fussed over whether something adapts the source well, since I'd hardly have enough time to check out the source of everything I watch.
More so just want something to be enjoyable enough in the medium it is, as the medium it is, and I think it's decent enough at that. Of course, that's a lot easier to say without having actually read the source, and I can't do that with most things, but I probably will for this.
-
@sparhawk6 is it over at 4 volumes?
Or is it still ongoing and only 4 volumes were released.
Volume 4 came out in December of 2015.
If the story is not over it looks like it will never release a 5th volume.
-
@Rahul-Balaggan Well, on bookwalker is vol 4 out 15th January 2016, but no, vol 4 is not the last one. Vol 5 simply didn´t came out yet. (As I say author is working on NGNL, don´t forget that movie is coming next month. Vol 10 NGNL came out at the end of 2016. Also I read somewhere that author is sick or something.)
@Nico Well, this LN is actually pretty good. I really recommend to read it.
-
It is at volume 4 and still ongoing. Pretty sure it wouldn't get an anime and manga adaptation if the author had dropped it. Yuu Kamiya just has too much to do, I guess. No Game No Life hasn't been updated in a year either. Volume 5 will probably be released long before we catch up.
-
@sparhawk6 & @Hakomari
You have my thanks.
-
@Hakomari NGNL Gaiden - Practical war game came out in december last year I think. And manga adaptation is coming as planned. And it is as you and me say, NGNL eat most of the author time, because movie is coming next month.

In a way, I'm that not surprised. Kodansha responded to an LN question on their tumblr stating that they chose "Kodansha Comics" as their western name on purpose, and had no intention of doing LNs. That was a few years ago, but it doesn't seem like their stance has changed any. The parent company might be happy to get some stuff out there, especially something with a currently airing anime. (edit- forgot all about vertical...)
That said, I also didn't enjoy the anime, but fans of this series swear up and down that the manga and especially LN are far better, so I might give it a shot.

When they say sister company, my mind immediately went to Vertical, since Kodansha Comics always calls them their sister company, and they have Seraph of the End LN. Well, I'm still kinda surprised that this is the next publisher, but certainly not complaining.

@Nico When someone say Vertical, I imagine Monogatari series! :D
