Yikes. I stepped on a mine with this question.
O-OIndeed! :-P
-
Clearly reverse isekai is a when a man and a woman arrange themselves in a censored position while censored. This is commonly seen in hentai.
-
But if you say there's only 3 Isekai... Would a Reverse Isekai be one of the 3? Or would that be a technicality to have more than 3 Isekai? 🤔
My Big Sister Lives in a Fantasy World is not Isekai. My Big Sister Lives in a Fantasy World has characters traveling from other worlds to the human world, so it is also a reverse Isekai. Therefore, My Big Sister Lives In a Fantasy World is both an Isekai and not an Isekai. - an example of Schrodinger's Isekat.
Edit: Bingo card ready...ish.
I just included the stuff I like mostly, put the series that are least likely on the fringes, and the stuff that's more known on the inside. I didn't put any of the Hayakawa or TO books books on here, so for those I just kind of have a separate list.

This of course is my Bingo cards for all the publisher conferences at AX, so Kadokawa stuff in there, GA Bunko.
If I get a single box crossed out, I'll be happy, lol. xD

@doublemangekyo Don't see anything stopping him either and I like Wagahara's writing.
-
Too many people to quote, but I consider a reverse isekai to be an isekai. As far as Part-Timer is concerned, the MC's are travelling back and forth so much, would you still consider it an isekai, reverse or otherwise? (I've only read the official translations thru volume 10.)
-
@paul-nebeling
I'm in the camp that Reverse Isekai is when the protagonist returns from another world. Part-Timer is just an Isekai series. Isekai has never required that it be a fantasy series. Me, a Genius is about MC going from modern to sci-fi alternate history.Elements coming from other worlds isn't particularly new either. Heroines falling from the sky, monsters coming from other worlds, sentient parasite thoughts, battle buddies you summon. Trying to say Reverse Isekai is just when something comes from another world is completely confusing the nature of the Isekai trope.
-
Only 2 Isekai novels will be announced at AX by J-Novel Club. And yes, that is counting Reverse or Inverse whatever Isekai.

You don't call going from A to B then back to A a "reverse trip," so why would you call it a "reverse isekai" just because A and B are different worlds? :/
Having never heard the term "reverse isekai" used before in general, the definition you're trying to sell is not remotely what I would expect it to be, that's why I disagree with it.
-
TBH “reverse isekai” imo shouldn’t even be a thing. If the setting is in our solar system that’s that.
-
Has there been any word on when and how these titles will be released? Will they be released all at once? One per week, one every other week, two per week, etc.?
36 starter parts (4 parts x 9 series) all at once is scary but a very exhilarating prospect.
-
@cosm1cfall It seems they have a 1 hour panel at Anime Expo tomorrow in which they will be announcing every one of their new titles... It will indeed be daunting.

Ah, I got the quote about uploading the novels during AX:
Will the prepubs for the AX announcements start the same day they’re announced? — Most of them, but honestly I might not have time to get them ALL launched immediately. Definitely..
https://twitter.com/jnovelclub/status/1003356540789719040?s=17
So yeah, just depends on how much time he has to upload them. Be interesting to see if they'll all upload every Thursday after that though (totally separate question).
-
@terrence after the announcement they will get spread out with the part 5s to their more permanent days.
Also good news everyone that “might not make it in time for AX” one made it in time.
So I guess it needs a hint or something now... okay, here goes:
“One of roots’s favorite drinks”

I think there's some difficulty related to the publisher Ichijinsha though (Wiki says they're Kodansha owned though)?
I think he said a long time ago that for Ichijinsha he'd have to go through Kodansha, but now he's got a relationship without Kodansha that shouldn't be a problem.
Ah, looks like there was some internal friction and Ichijinsha were dragging their heels, but that was over 6 months ago.
Oh, and Sam has already bid on at least one Ichijinsha title (which the author blocked) so channels are definitely open. -

ok, Dr. Pepper is the N1. Drink. THIS IS A FACT! Anyone who denies this is not a PERSON but a ROBOT ALIEN MASQUERADING AS A HUMAN.
with that in mind, I believe this hint means we will be getting a series about Doctors or Pharmacists.
PSA Time: if you see someone who does not like Dr. Pepper, remember to call Space Patrol that a Robot Alien is masquerading as a human.

There's quite a few good pharmacy Isekai / fantasy series, so I'd like that. I want Parallel World / Different World Pharmacy because I like the covers (and I'm curious about the older silver haired gal that features on most of them).
...I don't like Dr. Pepper. If I drink soda, Cream Soda is where it is at. Of course, you already knew I was a pink alien masquerading as a human. =P

“One of roots’s favorite drinks”
I'll give a few more clues I have got for this one.
roots refers to the author of Teekyuu manga.
It is an Isekai.
It is pretty good.
It has a Kurounin - someone who has worked and suffered hard to get where they are.
It is not that popular
-
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isekai_Izakaya_"Nobu" Maybe? I’m guessing beer as Root has a manga about beer, but that doesn’t cover the “worked hard to get where they got” thing, so...

Light Novels sorted by Isekai:

Have at it! You only have over 400 possible wrong guesses. =P
Edit: Dawn of the Final Day. Less than 24 hours remain.

Periscope Fireworks test:

Fireworks in LA https://t.co/8PC48HLGmO https://twitter.com/jnovelclub/status/1014733711080689664?s=17
Hopefully this means Periscope is good to go now at the convention. =D
For now... Waste time until 3:30 East Coast time.
