@LeavesCat said in Economics, Finance and everything in-between:

@Almond-Magnum The economics are a bit different since not all products are the same relative to each other. The Lion-Yen equivalence seems to be true for salaries and food prices, but basically all types of manufactured luxury items are 100 times as expensive as on Earth, if not more.

The economy can't really be directly compared to modern Earth due to the fact that Yurgenschmidt is in the middle of taking its first step towards the industrial revolution whereas Earth is a solid two centuries past the revolution itself. (And like 600-700 past that first step.) Since they have no mass production of any kind other than the very recently-developed printing press, most luxury goods are disproportionately expensive compared to how they'd be perceived in our modern economies.

Recently, forum participants have suggested possible deities (and/or avatars) not officially in the Bookworm pantheon. Sadly, I didn’t start this document until 17 July 2023, but here are the suggestions I’ve found:

Georgine, an avatar of the Goddess of Plausible Deniability (post #4596, @b.scot.morgan, 5.5)

alternate for Georgine: an avatar of the God of Sacrificing Underlings (post #4597, @kuali, 5.5)

Benno, Patron Saint of Pattern Recognition (post #1101, @kuali, 5.6)

Please enter your hypothetical deity/ies, too, so we can learn of these (scarce) omissions in the Official Yurgenschmidt Pantheon! thx

if #1 is true, you will never be able to prove it....

@hiroto I believe it was 2.2.2, the one with the lovely (and perfectly innocent, I assure you)

The number of flowers in my chambers had grown ever since she arrived, and they were becoming increasingly presentable to visitors.

@Helplesstank The clumps probably formed when she died the first time at 5, but I expect they got worse each time she died and willed herself back to life. In particular, I bet her heart stopped after the firewood book burning, as well as the flare that forced her to use Frieda's magic tool.

Amazon doesn't push updates; you have to go to your online account, look at your digital media and see if it shows an update available and if so instruct it to be queued for download.

@LeavesCat depends. If that contract signing over rights to the printing industry was just duchy wide, Roz could ignore it once she's elsewhere. But realistically she'd negotiate with Ehrenfest giving her home duchy a very good compensation.

I hope we get a chapter from his perspective at some point. We're learning more about his personality and politics through other characters talking about him, but nothing beats hearing it from the horses mouth. Plus, it'd be fun to see how the person at the absolute top of the noble Hierarchy sees Myne.

@15Redstones I don't know what it is in Japanese. I'll leave it to the others to figure out/check. Kier upvoted the post about Bonifatius saying temple-born in Part 1, so I thought to post this instance as well.

@5eniorsohn Parts 2, 3 and 4 are being released at the same time in Japan; each one has a different mangaka. I imagine the reasons a are to distribute the workload and finish sooner.

Does this mean we can expect part 4 releases in the mix soon? 8-)

In Japan the P3 manga began before the P2 manga yet J-Novel Club didn't begin releasing it until they had effectively caught up with the P2 manga. Realistically they probably won't begin P4 until they're caught up with the P3 manga and catch up again (or complete) the P2 manga.

@Geezer-Weasalopes the more flexible minded Leisegangs would probably realize that loads of archduke candidates marrying in is good.

    Good for the duchy? Maybe.

Good for them personally, or their family? Maybe not.

    @Kier
I just found a mistake on my reread of P4V1.
During the "The Better Grade Committee" chapter, Hartmut introduces himself as the second son of Ottilie, when he was earlier introduced as the youngest son of Ottilie by Rihyarda. This is confirmed in P5V2 when Leberecht, Ottilie's husband, says that Hartmut is his youngest son. And the Fanbook 2 family tree show that Ottilie and Leberecht have 3 sons, not 2 (including Hartmut).

The passage in the "The Better Grade Committee" chapter is as follow:

Hartmut stepped forward after Traugott. “I have been awaiting your return ever since you first instructed us to gather information in the Royal Academy, Lady Rozemyne. I am overjoyed to serve you,” he said, his amber eyes crinkled in a bright, peaceful smile. His way of speaking made him sound exactly like Justus, though his noticeably red hair meant he probably wasn’t as suited to stealthy reconnaissance. He was Ottilie’s second son, a fourteen-year-old apprentice archscholar in his fifth year.

It should be either Ottilie’s third son, or Ottilie’s youngest son.

The japanese version I was linked to appears to be:

    まるでユストクスのようなことを言った。だが、ユストクスと違って特徴的な朱色の髪が諜報活動には向かない。にこにことした穏やかな雰囲気の中に、茶目っ気を感じる橙だいだい のような明るい瞳がある。上級貴族の文官見習いで十四歳の五年生、オティーリエの末息子だそうだ。

We do have examples of foundations within other foundations. Dutchies within the country. Arguably Hasse within Ehrenfest. Maybe even Hidden Rooms.

I think it's possible that there is something left over from Eisenrich days. Maybe a left-over teleportation pad or other structure, even if not the old foundation. Or left-over permission settings on some parts.

Not the worst outcome, for him. He could support Ehrenfest pretty well as Aub Ahrensbach's respected teacher and advisor.

It's certainly doable; he gets to clean shop, puts the happy couple on the path to success, and once retired, can concentrate on research and eating consumme while Ehrenfest is right next door.

Hilde won't be happy he still has to marry someone other than Roz, but nobody expects he is gonna get what he wants.

@zwabbit said in Trade, and Trade relations - from A-Z:

@DaveHowe While the gate would be a bottleneck, we're given no indication they are by any means "small," especially after the visit to Kirnberger.

There is a picture of the Kirnberger Gate in the recently released V4. While the perspective could be deceptive, we know that it is
taller than it is wide (looks to me to about twice as high), but from the text, that height is approximately that of a four-story building. Assuming that's 4x14ft, say 28 feet wide?

that said; it could be part of a larger structure at sea; the gate itself doesn't have to reach all the way to the sea bed, and there could be some sort of harbour-like structure at either side of it, allowing you to guide a boat though it like a lock gate, rather than having to tack into it on wind power?

I think that by the time Sylvester finds out what's happening, Rozemyne will already have the Grutrissheit. Trying to argue "yes, she has the Grutrissheit, but she's still an Ehrenfest archduke candidate and we'd like to keep her at home" isn't a case he can make.

He might back Rozemyne up if she publicly opposes the royal family, but I don't expect any independent action from him. In this situation, I wouldn't expect independent action even from a better archduke.

@Almond-Magnum said in How much of the year 1 mess is actually Rozemyne's fault:

While I can't deny the favoritism for Wilfried... There wasn't really another way to both have one of Florencia's children inherit and keep Rozemyne in Ehrenfest. Melchior is too young and Charlotte is a girl. Even "Rozemyne marries Wilfried who will not be Aub" just wouldn't fly.

It will fly just fine. Not that it would work of course (well, not according to the new update) but there would be no difference between an Ehrefest where Wilfried was expected to be aub and has married Roz and one where Syl has decided Melchior will be aub, but Wilfried has already married Roz so she can hardly be taken to another duchy.

We are really looking at this from a Y3+ perspective though; Wilfried has demonstrated he has no desire to learn how to be aub, and in his defense, his example is Syl (who had to be forced to learn, and only does aub work now because he is unable to shift the burden onto someone else. He probably resents Bonni for having successfully dodged the job once before)

In our Y3+ perspective, Melchior is a better candidate, once Roz has been "locked down" by marrying Wilfried. She is still stuck married to an idiot, but it's still better than her being forced to marry (say) Lesti.

But there is a limit to how relevant all that is to a discussion of Y1 Roz's mistakes.

@Daniel-Perez-Apreza-fymrbja because part 2 is still ongoing in Japan. They have different artists working on them (also another artist again on p4), and since it only releases 2 volumes a year there, in the gap between those volumes, JNC can work on the part 3 manga.
