I don’t miss the paginated calendar, because if I missed a day I always had to page back; I like the fact that the current page has enough backscroll that I usually don’t have to page.

The big problem with the current design is that when you do page, it drops you Very Far Back and you have to do a lot of scrolling to get back close to the present. I’d be curious to see if they have any actual metrics on what people actually access after paging. My use is almost always “I missed just long enough that what I need to catch up on is only a day or so out”, so I’d prefer it to jump to the point where backscroll normally ends and let you keep scrolling back; but I’m not sure how others use it.

@Lily-Garden Also, you want to download the purchased epubs from the user page, that gets you the full final published copy with any corrections that have been made. If you access it from the series page that takes you to the prepub version that was available prior to being officially published, which is usually missing some things like color images at the front and sometimes extras like side stories, and is often missing some corrections.

@Ingraman - thanks, I figured out where the forum settings are (I was looking for a gear icon) and went to Windows Chrome where the reader settings appeared -- I couldn't make them appear in iPad Chrome but that might be user error :)

@jpwong True, SMS 2FA is not the safest option as it can be spoofed. That would also require J-Novel, or their partner, to store your number and have the infrastructure to send out text messages.
The more secure implementation would be to support the protocol used for authenticator apps.

@Kurzaa nah, you're right, playing with it some more, it's not sticking after all. It would be nice if it did. The one on the releases page sticks, that's probably what I was thinking of.

@Smoochie I'm not suggesting it shouldn't be considered, only that such a suggestion may need to wait for their overhaul of the search system which I think that while someone may be working on it, it's not the top priority right this second.

JNC's been working through each backend section of their site for overhauling from the original stuff they have had since back when they only had a few dozen series and only a few volumes of each.

in general I think that more information is better. Tags, genre, age appropriateness (meaningful), how many volumes, complete(?) and average reader ratings all would be good to see - I'd also like all of these parameters (and whatever else in meaningful) to be sortable. and/or filterable - like if I want to read a fan favorite rom com, isekai, fantasy, harem, not for folks under 14, that is complete in 12+ volumes - maybe I should have a way to find Lazy Dungeon Master. Some of these features /filters exist now. Some don't

@noobping oh this would be nice! I read so many books and with creative time of writing/translating quite a few times promising series get buried because I’d forgotten about them. It’s even hard to parse my purchased j-novel library there’s enough in there.

Maybe a separate bookmark page with each series level having a heart or something so it would show up on the user bookmark page as shortcuts. J-novel could even use that as a metric if the we’re deciding to continue publishing further translations of a series by interest alone. I know there’s a few series that were stopped translating due to perceived lack of interest that I came by after the fact that since they would be an unfinished series I didn’t pick up that I would have otherwise. ε=ε=ε=ε=ε=ε=┌( ￣◇￣)┘

@pcj It's probably planned to be added at some point, but seeing as how age rating systems for books is based on what the publisher decides rather than some sort ratings agency or governing body it may be lower on their priority list, especially since there's no filters for age ratings at the moment.

Rather than a pure suggested age filter (which may be applying a specific country's standards), I'd like to see something underneath that indicates what in the book got it that rating assuming it's not some sort of "E for Everyone" rating. For example, Suggested 12+ for Mild Fantasy Violence. That way people can see it's rated whatever due to violence, gambling, sexual situations or whatever since different people place different emphasis on different particularities.

While you're at it, could you also allow searching by Japanese title? The Japanese title is displayed right above the English one on the main page, but attempting to search for it yields no results.

Stopped my sub after it became clear that having those 'final' tags back wasn't a priority. Really disappointing.
