I’m against what can be considered hard core. Avoiding incest (up to cousin of first degree) and underage are a must. Of course the act has to be consensual. Following these guidelines it would be nice if J-Club could publish more adult novels.

I can't say I'm particularly surprised. JK Rowling and JRR Tolkien are also only known for stories set in the universe of their creation. I'd be game for other stories set in the same 'bookverse' . A prequel? i.e. The story of the intrigue around the coup and the purge. Or, adventures that are contemporaneous but in a neighboring kingdom?

I am asking this question for LDM vol 14 but well, still waiting...

I was wondering about LDM myself this morning. I understand we have to wait on the author, then the Japanese publisher, then the negotiations with JNC, then JNC scheduling the work, then the team doing enough work to release part 1. But I want it nowwwwww (whine).

    Hello,

Since one of the users to recently post about the volume is not a member of the site we understand that they are unable to move into the members only section of the forums.

If users wish to discuss V6 they can do so here, as this topic is already in the Light Novel Discussion section, alternatively they could make a new topic entirely in the J-Novel Club Series section of the forums.

Either is more then welcome, happy posting

No. It's not. The light novel has a lot more story to it that the manga does. While the manga gives you a visual aspect to entertain you, and that's not a bad thing by any means, the light novel goes a lot more into depth with the story itself so if you've only read the manga and been wondering "how did we get from here tho here" in the story, that part is most likely in the light novel, but was cut out for expediency to move the story along.

So, basically, if you want to get the entire story you need to read the light novel. Me personally, I find the light novel to be more entertaining and it helps me to enjoy the manga more once I read it. But that's just me.

    Hello,

Yes Wortenia is still licensed by J-Novel Club for translation, however as of right now there is no official date for when Volume 10 will start pre-publication on the site.

Everyone’s patience during this time is appreciated.

    Thank you

I do recall creating a discussion on the latest volumes that are released in JNC forums. I don’t remember if I did it for the most recent volume tho.

I'm looking forward to volume 11 in March, as the spider timeline gets closer to the human timeline and we start to see what was behind everything the humans experienced.

    Hello,

Yes, this title is currently licensed, and being translated by Tentai, in their most recent blog post they said they are in the process of acquiring the license for V2.

    https://tentaibooks.com/en/tentai-books-end-of-the-year-update/

They also do have a calendar, https://tentaibooks.com/en/release-announcement-schedule/ which has a tentative release date for April.

@Kilocron said in Light Novel Recommendations?:

I guess my question is... Will a staff member potentially see a license recommendation, then look into the possibility of getting it?

If you look through the recommendation topics, you will find that some have been made by staff members. And every one of them has been seen by people who are "on staff", as part of their normal duties.

But, not all staff are part of the team that negotiates with Japanese publishers. And I doubt it would be as simple as faxing over a list of titles from the suggestion topics to publishers and saying, "How much?"

I can see why you would think that. It bothered me as well when I first signed up. Honestly the key is in the catchup series. JNC has so many good series that it's easy to find something new to read every month, in addition to all the new ones that are always in pre-pub status. Honestly, once you are caught up on a series, then as long as you keep an eye on the prepubs, then you'll never need to buy any unless you want to.

@catstorm Would be nice if it was this way. But they still continue with their old site as far as I read. And really. What would you think about people which gets a notification from license holders and still host those materials?

@xdrfiredogx said in Why do you read a book you've already read?:

. give me printed paper that I can hold and pages to turn, where the decision of where to read can have as much meaning as what to read, and that's where I build those emotional connections.

That's why I've had trouble getting into Bookworm -- I'm a contentophile not a biblophile :) . I prefer my kindle to a paper book because I don't care paper, smell, touch for a book just the words, and a kindle is a more convenient way to deliver them to me. Bookworm's MC seemed to love the paper as much or more than the words.

Hmm, I liked the Iruma-kun anime, but I could never really get into the manga. The style just doesn't mesh well with what I like I guess.

I already mentioned which two LN I'm hoping to get licensed this year by JNC in the other topic that's going, but I'm kinda hoping that the same 2 titles (Isekai Yururi Kikou and Rebuild World) get anime announcements this year, though I guess I have to say I'm not sure I'm too hopeful on it, isekai slice of life series have never really been popular choices for adapting, and it seems like the only sci-fi type series being made now involve teenage girls needing to save the world in battle costumes.

this might also work..i mean if a 'threat' or some such was known and ferdi has to become an instructor to keep an eye on her..he might be able to do that as a guest lecturer...i mean he is already training his substitue for the temple..and he technically has the tele circle ...so if he is a guest lecturer it is very probable..also no way is the author gonna have a 3 year?? academy arc content with next to no ferdi unless she is planning to introduce sauske (from naruto) -esque character i mean attractive mysterious and super duper powerful obv of royal birth and possibly the hotshot among the kiddie girls......i really wish that they had a character to compete for her attentions on par with ferdi in terms of royalty etc but not a child either as they would not compare...unless ofc it is sasuke.

I don't mind stories that go on and on, even with extended waits between release of volumes. There are few series "I drop" if ever. Put it on long pause maybe...

@Village-Idiot said in Light novels and their manga adaptions:

The manga is usually just to promote the LN and very rarely actually finishes completely adapting the LN.

The usual rate is around two manga volumes per LN.

That's what happened recently with Ester de Valonia/エステルドバロニア (currently 2 light novel volumes, 4 webnovel volumes)
It had a 10-chapter manga adaptation, and despite the author's wishes it was cut short thereafter.
(Turned out pretty popular with the English readers, turning into some drama when they saw a note on the last page of chapter 10 which said volume 2 comes out on January 27th and were sure it meant it was going to continue, all the while others tried in vain to explain it only meant the last 5 chapters were being compiled into a volume...)

Light novel and manga adaptations don't always coincide, one recent strange example was Territory Management For The First Time, By The Adventurers Of Level 99/レベル99冒険者によるはじめての領地経営
The webnovel started in 2014 and is still ongoing, according to amazon it had a light novel version in 2014-2017 with 6 volumes total, however it only got a manga adaptation a few months back, with, I think, only two chapters out yet as of this date.
