Otherwise, there's zero reason to assume that the after story won't get published in the Light Novel once the main story is finished.

I hope so. The afterstory is a blast and I'd really like to see it cleaned up and professionally translated. I intend to keep purchasing them as long as they continue to be published.

It might also help to know that if you buy the ebooks directly from JNC instead of from Amazon, etc. there is bonus content:

    https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/305/premium-e-book-bonus-contents-list/

Volume 1: Alternative Cover, Pinup, Bonus Image, 6 store exclusive short stories

    A Man's Dream
The Holy Goddess' Descent unto Paradise
    A Case of What If
    A Nightmare in the Abyss
    The Liberators' Game
    Dreams of Family

The bonus content is only in the published ebooks, not in the pre-publication versions you can read on the website. When titles are on "catch up" for the month (like Unwanted Undead for October) they are still the pre-pub versions NOT the ebooks with bonus content.

I am pretty sure that Myne and Gutenbergs were discussing how the isolinear processor needed to be inverted so the bioneural bags won't begin to phase resulting in smudged ink. :) You're welcome.

You may want to try the https://beta.j-novel.club website, it’s a lot better at redeeming credits than the main site. The developer announced over a week ago that non-members could buy credits but they have since edited out that paragraph, so that seems to be coming very soon.

But yea if that doesn’t work, you can always just create the URL yourself and redeem them as said above.

Damn! Hope that everything is ok on their end. If anyone needed a reason to miss release deadlines, this would definitely count as a legitimate one. Just hoping they are safe.

A move is different, but... generally, books are something the estate has to worry about. :)

Also, donations to libraries are a possibility, if you aren't needing the money.

@ShiroiRyu I really like Kobo, though I just wish Yen Press was eligible for the VIP discount like every other light novel/manga publisher is.

Yeah. That bites. But at least it actually makes it reasonable to pre-order their titles. With the other publishers, the discount doesn't kick in until the book has been released, so it never makes sense to pre-order any of their stuff. Of course, having the discount affect pre-orders and having Yen Press have the discount would be best, but alas, it isn't so.

@HarmlessDave as far as I understood it the field only cancels out the system, so since White now operates outside the system, he's in for a world of hurt :)

though being Potimas he might have a back-up plan already...

Well, hopefully the previous volumes get fixed sooner rather than later. Either way, I'm glad that I haven't gotten far enough in the series yet to run into this character (I just recently started reading it), since I absolutely hate any form of genderswapping, which is what this would then feel like even if it was because of translation error.

This is far from the first series to have issues like this though. Still, fortunately, it's not a mistake that happens very often. It could be much worse.

Now if only Yen Press could get laxer region restrictions for the main series than just 3 measly countries. alt text

Veight's name in Japanese is ヴァイト - that's Vaito in romaji. If you treat the Japanese as the correct pronunciation then it's an English V sound and rhymes with fight.

@thesamecristian I do not speak Spanish, so I'm hoping my friend Ponk from Discord isn't pulling my leg with this >.>

No, ambas membresías, regular y premium solo te permiten leer los libros que están siendo traducidos actualmente y ademas de las series que estan en modo catch-up/para ponerse al corriente

So we know prepubs do get royalties based on viewing numbers (with manga getting slightly lower rates). I seem to remember this sort of question being asked before either on CC or Discord, and Sam said with very few exceptions, prepub numbers fall very similarly with ebook sales rankings. So if something isn't selling very well, then more than likely people aren't reading the prepubs very much either.

Sam replied about: 'royalties from subscriptions [memberships] are split evenly among active pre pubs' and manga are at a lower rate.

which I am having some difficulty parsing. I can't tell if that means that as an accounting metric they are saying (whatever % of subscription revenue) is used to pay for pre-pubs, or they assume "x" % of revenue is due to pre-pubs, or something else, other than whatever allocation of money is divided equally among active projects .

'royalties' are something that JNC has to PAY to the original creators/publishers ( a cost) not something they earn from memberships (income) ...it sounds to me that they negotiated a deal with the copyright holders to pool royalties (they get a cut of membership dues) for all pre-pubs instead of paying more to titles that are viewed more (and less to those that are read less) ??

Agree. My reading is that a proportion of what people pay for their subs goes into a royalty pool. If X% of the content available as prepubs is from a publisher then they get X% of the royalty pool. I'm guessing this means that if a publisher's book is on catch-up that they get a much larger proportion of the pool but there could be separate arrangements for that. As a publisher using the available percentage has the advantage of being verifiable and hard to game.

@Kalessin said in "VOTING WITH YOUR WALLET": how to support series you love:

There's also the interesting question of how much the pre-pub matters in comparison to the actual book sales with regards to what JNC does.

I believe that JNC get most of their profits through Amazon sales, but that everything else helps. People who subscribe give JNC a guaranteed income and are exposed to many series that they might then go on to buy (and potentially review). Plus it allows translators to get feedback in advance of a release which can improve the quality of JNC translations.
