There's also apparently this view in the industry, as said by a Head of Comic Adaptation department at Kadokawa in an interview:

Men tend to like the set up of one hero with a lot of heroines, whereas I get the impression that women like for the love interest to be set in stone and for the process of how they got together to be depicted in great detail, even if there are a lot of attractive men in the story. This doesn't just apply to iseikai. Men's and women's comedic romance follows similar trends...

When there is one set love interest, the main couple may get together early or late, but when there are multiple love interests, it's pretty much guaranteed that the MC won't get together with anyone for a long time to keep the status quo going. Whether that view on (Japanese) men's preference is justified or not, who knows? They could be making that conclusion based on sales figures.

Dungeon Defense is really good although it seems like it's stalled.

@jampodevral said in Why does J novel seem to be losing volumes?:

I have found several series that I did not have time for when they started due to IRL issues, that are now staples of my JNC life.

I've found several series I liked through the prepubs and monthly catch-up, ones that I'd never have bought blind.

I've also saved myself money by reading enough of a volume to discover <Wataru> It's! Just! Not! My! Cup! Of! Tea!!!!!!!!!!!! </Wataru>

Let’s not make this personal, keep it on the facts of the topic, not on anyone personally.

Just released Episode 9! Thanks again to everyone and anyone who is still following the story, and to those who are new. Welcome and thank you for taking the time to read my work, I really appreciate it truly. <3
Next Episode, "Episode 10: Nu" Look forward to it!! :)

@thefirstpunicwar Yeah the fights now are are just characters screaming increasingly longuer and cringyer as the series go on.

I was also thinking of at least finishing the series ,since it's one of the first LN I read, but I took a look at what's been released in Japanese and most new volume look like fillers. So I think I will stop at vol 16 for now.

@lighthawk96 I don't read Ms Elf, I'm talking about Potions.

On the Orphen books, I believe the translator mentioned recognizing the quality drop as finally hitting too many simultaneous projects. That's why they handed the title over to a new translator.

If you find another 5000 fans who are willing to buy it digitally, it will increas the chances of a print release by a lot.

@Terrence
If it is then that's too bad. It really is a good story base. The really good ones end way too soon.
