I also would like to have something similar for the web browser. I am using a Windows tablet and face the same issues.

If you're using the app, you can go over to the series page and just uncheck the filters and the default view shows series in order of licensing with the most newly licensed series appearing first in the list.

Not wery b/w e-ink friendly :) Now it's at least possible to navigate to color images on a different (color) device.

Also I usually edit JNC epubs and move color incerts to the front. It helps to know how characters look and named etc and that's how it's in Japanese versions.

For the VTuber series I think that was the best option. Generally I am happy for translators to use their own judgement but I'd like to be told about any interesting elements which might have been lost in translation, either through posts in the forum (which VTuber did a good job of and which I see quite a lot of for Bookworm) or in TL notes at the end where justified (which is sometimes seen from JNC in the premium content for reference-heavy series such as VTuber and My Big Sister Lives in a Fantasy World)

@kiryuukai we are just finishing up our first in app purchase functionality for our app actually! Actually subscribing from the app is a bit farther down the line.

On my Onyx Boox, I just read prepubs on the JNC official app, which is more convenient than reading through the website.

@chocolatkey Well, as I mentioned it already stopped appearing, and only showed up for 1 day. It never showed up before or after that.

I'd definitely appreciate the option once you've gotten those other issues handled, should it turn up again.

I'll investigate the custom css stuff if it shows up again before that.

Broadly speaking there are two types of store specific bonus content:
Bonus content paid for by the publisher in Japan in order to boost sales (often at the request of a Japanese book store, sort of like a co-op in western retail)
Or
Bonus content paid for by the book store (or affiliate of the book store). Which are done by the stores as part of their marketing and they usually hire the japanese publishers to make it for them.

In scenario 1 the rights to this extra content are usually held by the publisher, the same as the main book. In scenario 2 the bonus content was done as a work for hire scenerio, so the rights would be held by the store. However the bonus content is still derivative of the main work, so licensing it would require approval from the jp publisher in addition to negotiations with the store. Rather, in the cases where we have gotten this content, it's likely the case that the jp publisher buys the rights back from the store, and then resells them to JNC.

Jp publishers have different stances when it comes to this bonus content. Some are happy to provide it (the ones they have rights to) to overseas licensors for use in marketing or sales etc.
Some require additional money.
Some ask for ridiculous amounts of money.
Some are too disorganized and do not even attempt to do the legal legwork to make them available at all.
Some give restrictions for their use which are unrealistic given ebook formats (only can be used as a physical printed bonus, etc).

It's a mess and we do our best.

@chocolatkey I just got it, apparently I misremembered the exact issue when I reported it yesterday, it actually says "Minute" not "minutes". If it helps, I am using Brave (a chromium based browser) on garuda linux. I was on the browser page and waited for it to roll over both times, I don't know if the behavior is the same when you load the page initially with less than 1 minute remaining.

@Farmerdad I don't really know what you're expecting, to be frank. You're asking J-Novel Club to collect and share information about publication status/author status, correct? I see two possible scenarios for this:

JNC obtains information from the publisher behind the scenes. JNC combs through social media and blogs to find public information.

For 1, my initial answer basically encompasses this. We don't usually get secret information about series or future books. When we do, it's under confidentiality, so we can't share it.

For 2, we don't do that currently, and we won't start doing it just for your personal convenience. (See the last paragraph.)

And the hidden answer between 1 and 2 is that any information we do reveal publicly can lead to a lot of speculation among the fanbase about information that we do or should have, or confirmation by omission. "Why did JNC know series X is canceled but say nothing about series Y? Does that mean Y is actually not canceled? If JNC said author A is sick but nothing about author B, was B's series canceled?"

As you've probably seen in the topics like this one, we can't license a new volume until it's released in Japan anyway, so the reason why there's a gap or a hiatus or cancellation or whatever is honestly irrelevant to us. If a book is going to be published, we have advance notice of it from preorders and other indicators. Therefore we have no reason to proactively seek information on authors and whatnot.

@Kurzaa I think that's probably a fix that came though as part of the August site updates.
