@strangeattractor said in Future Volume Release Schedule:

I was way more worried about volumes not being on the schedule and the lack of information when I was new to J-Novel Club. Over the past few years, I've accumulated a lot of trust in J-Novel Club. They haven't voluntarily given up on translating and publishing a series, not even once.

It is an extraordinary organization. I started out basing my expectations on what other publishers are doing, and my expectations have been exceeded all over the place.

Totally this. I'm a lot more relaxed about JNC publications due to the company's excellent track record as well as their being more open and responsive than most publishers.

A shopping cart like feature would be nice. I can't afford the "buy all" option, but it would be nice to buy multiples at once instead of one at a time.

@myskaros okay and thank you for answering my question. One thing I will say about j novel club is the company is really fast to answer fans questions.

@ondra3985 I was just looking to see if anyone else had suggested this! With volume control for scrolling/page turn it would also enable the use of Bluetooth remotes to scroll/page turn.

@Salt-6o4upyl said in Include Print by Seven Seas, Yen Press, and more under the general "In Print" tag:

Don't really know why this is't a thing, if a series is in print, no matter which publisher it is, should have the "In Print" tag.

In this context "In Print" refers to whether there is a hardcopy edition of a JNC translation.
So only those titles which JNC has translated and for which there is a hardcopy edition would have this tag.
Some of those are hardcopy by other firms, some hardcopy by JNC.

      Woop totally forgot about this...
I largely read on mobile so mostly download only the versions for mobile. Gonna buy a huge chunk of Manga down the road eventually but so far most of the time I get the good speeds for downloads but every now and then one of them has to be the stuck pipe that's slow as heck.

It's a good idea, but difficult to implement I imagine. It should be possible to select text while also making it impossible to copy on mobile platforms. They could make it an app feature, but not available on the site.

Could be a bit of a nightmare too, with hundreds of people reporting the same typos. The prepubs don't get updated, after all. So the current system is fine with that in mind.

Therefore, the best option for now would be to link to corrections topics from within the reader.

@Kurzaa another trick here if you want it: The forums are WPA-enabled. This means if you view the forums in a WPA-capable web browser (Chrome and Firefox will both do it) There'll be an "Install" option in the menu, and using it will put the forums icon on your home screen, and running it will run like a standalone app (not in your web browser).

@timefiddler A lot of it depends on who you are as a publisher, from what I can see. And how you publish things makes a difference, too.

If you go back in time, there has been a loooooonnnnggg discussion about who has which books. For several months, it was "difficult" to get some of the Demon Lord books in Germany because the covers were considered objectionable; Amazon.com had them, but Amazon.de did not. That applied to both print and electronic versions.

I sort of left that discussion behind, because I stopped buying the print editions, and getting the .epub versions direct from j-novel.club made more sense. Now, though, I buy print editions of Bookworm books, and my usual supplier doesn't exist anymore, so...

Neither colour illustrations nor any bonus premium content appears in the individual simulstream part releases.

You have to download the premium epub from JNC to get the illustrations, and this also often has an additional round of editing. The colour illustrations might appear at the end of the epub rather than the beginning.

JNC should make this clearer across the service as the following recent discussion threads indicate it's not clear enough:

      https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/7456/resolved-j-novel-website-not-showing-illustrations-while-reading-on-browser

      https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/7504/missing-entire-section-in-website-and-mobile-app-that-only-show-ups-in-epub

It is mentioned in the FAQ at https://j-novel.club/faq but in a slightly obscure way as it talks about simulstream parts and not explicitly the parts you can read when you buy a book from JNC.

Edit: Premium account gives you a monthly premium ebook voucher (aka 699 credits) and discounts on getting more credits. I read most JNC books as they stream and then get the epub of those I like for the illustrations and in some cases bonus stories. This allows me to take part in the discussion of the series as the parts are being released and means I don't go as long between reading a story and makes it easy for me to try out new series and those on catch-up without having to spend any credits. Others might prefer to wait for the epub to be out and just read the polished final version and see the colour illustrations at the same time as they read the novel for the first time. JNC supports both preferences.

JNC Discord has a channel "#pre-pub discussion" where people discuss most of the prepubs, for that kind of multiple chat works very good.

That or individually check every series thread here.

There we go again. There are 20+ new items in the RSS feed, but only the last 15 are available through it.

(I think last time it had 20 items because the release time was slightly different for some items and so it was able to load them.)

@SpaceShorts While you may be correct. I don't agree completely. I speak two languages and I find dictionaries to mean jack shit by themselves. Dictionary is tool to help you understand words but it is not the true. I check several Dictionaries and I always seen to find additional meaning more than I like to. For example if I look for word in my language. Dictionaries would use more words to explain to explain the complexity of the word. But if you ask someone from my language to explain it. More than likely they would use one word to explain it complexity.

Additionally sometimes the author is very particular about certain words. So to us it may seen like the translantion spamming one word for convenience. But in reality the author really is the one spamming it.

I not saying you are wrong but that it is not clear cut.

It would be handy if people got a notice the first time they read a part they owned suggesting they read the epub.
