+1, but this doesn't seem like it'd be in JN's ballpark. At least the books are short, so that's one point in its favor.

I'm reading it now, it's a nice read. So many interesting series that unfortunately were licensed when light novels weren't as big, so they all died after a volume or two. +1

@Shiroi-Hane it's a pair of karambits but the bottom one is suffering from a wandering blade making the overall effect rather odd.

@Micha Bumping to show support is fine (encouraged, in fact), as long as you don't spam the thread.

@LurkingMcLurk Unfortunate, I even tried shilling it to help with sales. I guess the author's creative mind was simply too maverick despite all the rave reviews from online people.

Series is completed with 3 volumes with a soft ax. There's still a lot that could have transpired, but at least it ended on a decent stopping point.

I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it is a nice read as long as you don't mind a very infantile female lead. On a positive side, this series is free of a very annoying trope of adult cast acting like... uhh, being very unpleasant in attempt to convince the audience just how grown-up they are.
The real gem here, though, is a side pairing. Watching them was probably even more enjoyable than following the main cast.

    @Tenome No Links to NovelUpdates.

Because That site serves as an index for fan translations, links to it aren't allowed.

If you can find a reference link on My Anime List (MAL), those are allowed. Likewise, links to the page of the Japanese publisher are acceptable.

Might give this a poke, though, as it at least a little different than the constantly repeated isekai formula…

    These?
There's also these? This appears to come between the above and what JNC is currently working on?

There is a repetitive theme in Japanese LNs, etc., of the all-out warfare at the school lunch counter, the joy of those who emerge victorious, the desolation of those who find themselves bereft of all hope.
There is also the theme of two individuals reaching for the last item of a given food substance at the convenience store.
And the theme of having totally bizarre martial arts competitions.

    And thus, Ben-To.

I'd never heard of this before, but it looks like it might be fun.

    Hello,

Since this particular title is currently licensed by our friends over at Hanashi Media, I will be locking the topic down.

When a title obtains “licensed” status for English translation it no longer becomes a title eligible for J-Novel Club to license.

For anyone else curious about the title I will link to the series page on Hanashi.

    https://store.hanashi.media/product/another-world-survival-vol-01/

    Thank you

I thought there was a pinned "topic" dealing with the suggested format for licensing suggestions, but I'm not seeing it; there are only two pinned topics in this area... It's always good to look at this topic to see if there is already a suggestion topic for a given work; it's not all inclusive, as they update it irregularly and if a new topic was created in the interim it won't show, so it's also good to search to see if one was created since then.

Something like what I put together increases the likelihood of others checking out an unfamiliar title.
I have to admit that I go a bit overboard, which has something to do with being a retired librarian; information wants to be shared!
Bookwalker links are useful in that Bookwalker generally has extensive previews available, to the extent that other retailers link to them; they're in Japanese, but you still get all the "beginning of volume" illustrations, and if you do read Japanese...it's a preview!
Linking to MAL or ANN if they have entries provides some level of information in English.
The Publisher link makes it possible to keep on top of what's come out in Japan.
The Twitter & Pixiv links help get a feel for the author and illustrator's other work and involvements.
In some cases there will be Wikipedia entries.

There are sites that J-Novel dislikes our linking to, such as Novel Updates; publishers of Licensed translations have good reason to not want links that lead to unlicensed translations [it can negatively impact their relation with the Japanese publishers if nothing else] or other materials with iffy IP status; this also includes any images linked, they need to come from sites where there is reason to believe the IP rights holders approved their being posted [so sometimes you don't go with the highest resolution image you can find due to where it comes from].

And, um, yes, I tend to be verbose.
