Fiene's mother's backstory always gets me. And so does Lieselotte's reaction, telling her father to go and adopt Fiene into the family. And so does Art and Sieg immediately agreeing to go falsify the relevant records. It's all of them working for the same goal together without having to talk to each other and I love it.

Oh no! Mr. Dragon didn't know people celebrate their birthdays!
Love how in this series, even the crises are entirely wholesome.
And I don't feel bad for tearing up all the time while reading, because so do the character within.

The art is a great fit for the tone of the series. (My favourites were the Dark Queen's incognito outfit, and the two-page spread of the Olivia and Mr. Dragon looking at spring flowers.)

@xdrfiredogx @GeorgeMTO Thank you for reinforcing my thoughts. I didn't remember anything like this in the LN, but it's also been about a year and a half since I reread the full series.

I know the manga like to make changes to the fights, probably trying to make them more dramatic. This, however, feel different. I'm going to put my thoughts in spoilers.

      spoiler

Oh no doubt. I have a lot of issues with how things were done in the actual LN. This actually makes it feel like an organic buildup and not a random ass-pull.

Well, this part was fun. The pacing does seem about right, and we got the requisite foreshadowing about the Murdergalsh. That is something I'm looking forward to seeing.

A nice tour in the garden with a knight... except when he leaves you for a minute and your evil twin sister bullies you.

Fortunately, the knight puts an end to it quickly.

Chelsea also doesn't understand her position and value since she's been abused and belittled all her life. Looks like both of the sister's misconceptions are going to be corrected by the powerful people around them now.

It feels a bit odd to call this form Dark Baiser but that really is what it is.

      Can't be... no goatee

Dark Baiser, not Mirror Universe Baiser; along the lines of Dark Phoenix.

One could argue that all Phoenix are dark, but I'll grant you the point.

This installment was pure fluff, and nothing but.
      It was good fluff.

Yes it was, and helps balance out the darker tone of Iluna's kidnapping and Yuki's rampage that started out the volume.

Wow, this manga artist sure loves large, supple .... ears. Another demi-human with ears for days. First the cat triplets, now Galatt. We finally get to the dungeon city and the travel from there is just him grumbling about it.

Also, the story didn't really touch on it, but Saika's totally filling a literal void in the family, isn't she? Somebody died and that's why she had to be adopted. So some of the reactions to her are probably mixed in with grief over a missing family member. (Not that it excuses anybody, because Saika has to deal with grief too and you don't see her being rude to others over it.)

@jpwong said in Sweet Reincarnation Vol 7 Discussion:

Does pumpkin pie make your mouth feel dry?

No, a correctly made pumpkin pie does not. And yes, it is a Japanese thing - because they make them wrong. They also do pecan pies wrong. At least, this is my perspective comparing Down South / Texas fare to what I had in Japan. Their pumpkin pies are made so that they are dense and dry. The pumpkin element only comes halfway up the crust - like their cheesecakes. Their pecan pies are made with a heavy concentration of pecan slivers and just enough of the filling mixture to keep the pecan pieces stuck together. Altogether, I did not have a single pie that was memorable, in a good way, the entire time I was there.

Their cakes were good though, unless you like your cakes super sweet. Like Mexican pastries, they do not load as much sugar into their recipes.

All of that being said, these were my experiences from being there for several years in the 1980s. Perhaps they got better at pies since then. But from what is said in the manga, perhaps not.

Her 'Release' didn't last long enough for her 'release', if you know what I mean...

      Geez, what a vulgar person.
She's not wrong about her appearance, but man does she do a number on all the tropes of dignified Elves. If there were a time to say, "Apologize to Tolkien!" this would be it. Next thing you know she'll start talking about hairy toe fetishes or something.

@Zerio said in Lady Rose Just Wants to Be a Commoner! Vol 3 Discussion:

She literally changed the plot from the villainess getting banished into the heroine getting banished. Just that fact alone should have alerted her that not everything is the same.

Of course, but there's tons of LNs which have the plot try to reassert itself, or have the protagonist change important stuff but still have their game knowledge be more or less perfect, etc. It's so common that protagonists actually changing the timeline beyond recognition within the first few chapters is pretty rare; and a lot of those are in comedies, not serious explorations of the idea.
