@alocervancouver I'd suggest reading Isekai Kenkokuki - Otherworld Nation Founding Chronicles.

It does take a while to get to the bureacratic parts though, since it goes Village > Clan > Country > Nation > Empire. And during the village arc there's not so much bureaucracy as it is "how can we get enough food and things to survive the winter".

@rahul-balaggan I dunno - you have more Siskan faith than I. I think rightfully San would prioritize the continued growth of JNC over his translation and I could see him not getting around to it, despite his best efforts.

I know there was some sort of legal dispute between GravityTales & Qidan and it all just confused me to the point I never start since i couldn't at that point determined what was legit or not. and i only kept hearing bad things about Qidan so I have been putting it off.

That's interesting. I'm glad you decided to not go with that approach. From what I've learned of Japanese business, relationships are important. I feel like you'd ruin whatever industry connections you may have garnered over the years if you tried something like that.

Thanks for the links. From what I've gathered, a fan translation site was starting to turn semi-pro and made a handshake deal with Qidan while in negotiations. During the negotiations Qidan drove a hard bargain, possibly trying to bully the site into submission, but they didn't cave. So, Qidan tried to smear, failed miserably, and took what was translated from the translators and put it up on their site verbatim. Did I get that right?

Yen press is kind of slow. :( I wish J-Novel Club had gotten the rights for Kumo Desu Ga, they're already out to vol 7 in Japan.

Anywhere quiet and preferably dark is good, conversely loud and bright is bad. (that goes for me in general actually, not just when I'm reading)
