I just got the first two volumes of Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! and I finished both in less than two days. I just could not put the book down, one moment A is happening but almost as soon as A happened we get B, and we just have to see what happens and then C happens almost right away; There is absolutely no fluff or unimportant content in this series. This series does not have long periods of nothingness like many other series have. I had to force myself to put this series down and other series such as Shield Hero, Konosuba, Vending Machine, Smartphone etc. because I just would not stop reading it until I finished the book. Even the fights have so much content in them where something like Accel World drags out almost every fight to the point where we just want it to stop, We get it, the game is supposed to be a game, its supposed to be fun not ruined by some guy. I also just noticed that most of the series I just can not put down were originally WN, so they typically would have short chapters and each chapter needed something to happen or change and be interesting, so where some LN will take 2-5 times longer to get to the important points or have something happen, a WN needs to keep the readers hooked wanting more and tuning in next week or month for a new chapter, so they make something happen, they change something, they introduce something, they conclude something, they add to something, they progress something, they do not add fluff (unless it is something like Chinese WN where they get paid by word-count).

I ran it through jisho.org and very roughly it's something like "Branded disqualified as the Duke's heir, today I'll live life to the fullest!"

well, I will make a comment every now and then on this topic about a protagonist I really LOVE, and I will probably use my list I created as a guide.

Bell Cranell:

Goals and Motivation - Bell has a Goal from before the start of the series and that is to pick up girls, but at the start of Volume one, his goals shift to being worthy of Aiz Wallenstein. For this goal, Bell needs to become stronger and become Aizs' equal.

Personality and Likes & Dislikes Bell loves the stories about heroes and their adventures. Bell is loyal and can be a bit childish at times, like when he first learned magic he wanted to test it out right away even going against Hestias' words about being patient and waiting the next day.

Weakness - Bell does not have any kryptonite type of weakness. Bell had a lack of confidence and a wall blocking his progression known as Fear, though this wall was destroyed in Volume three it was present. Not necessarily a weakness but Bell will do what he believes to be right, even if there will be dire consequences.

Dilemmas and Choices - Bell is forced into making near impossible choices, and he takes action, NOT a passive wishy-washy or no choice.

@oathkeeper95 dry ice is high pressure, frozen CO2 right? There's enough of that in the atmosphere. I never said it was totally physically accurate, it's just that magic in Irregular makes emphasis in that if you try to follow physics to some extent, it reduces the strain on your use on magic. The Dry Ice Bullets slow the CO2 particles in the air and make the molecules converge through Acceleration and Convergence magic to freeze and make the bullet, then uses the energy sapped through this process to convert it into kinetic energy to shoot said bullet, by respecting the laws of conservation of mass and energy, the strain on the caster is heavily reduced and the level of phenomenon interference needed is much lower. Unlike let's say Niflheim that freezes an area over just because, but the strain it causes and level of interference needed is so high only a handful of mages can actually cast the spell effectively.

@smashman42 well, they just adapted 2 volumes, the series is up to volume 6 right now in Japan, so I'd keep my hopes up for that.

Thanks for your help everyone. I need to do more research and should include Manga... apparently there is plenty of anime that are based upon stories that only have manga.

BL, Yaoi, Gender Bender, Josie , tragedy , most Horror, i don't like Scary stuff but I like monsters so it kind of depends but usually no.

& its ok if your not Blood Related, as far as I am concerned if you family its not ok at all, i don't care if they aren't blood related or not. This is just how i personally feel about it, i get others feel differently about it, but it bothers me on some levels for some reason.

shivers thinking about a certain anime a friend said I should watch, based on a light novel. not okay not okay & that was blood related.

Echoing Aruseus and green death, "isekai" isn't even a factor when I choose to read or not read or drop a book. It's just another label I can use to predict what kind of setting or tropes will be used in the story, the same way "sci-fi" or "shoujo" or "harem" help tell me what I can expect, in some shape or form.

I got this feeling, his “travels” even though it’s intended to avoid marriage meetings, will result in him having a “United Nations of queens” at his side. Primary and secondary.

Then again, he’s only limited to 8 as per Liscia, so he has to take some care in that... otherwise the Queens will need to approve...

Maybe secondary queens will only get one ever other, or every third week...

Or .. like slave harem, 2 or 3 secondary queens on the same night. And Juna is the top who gets her own night. Lol

Update: I had a thought, and my thought was this would probably work more as a general discussion of the series as a whole (available in English) and I make a thread for each of the separate parts of the series ex. (one for Bakemonogatari, Kizumonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Nekomonogatari, Kabukimonogatari, Hanamonogatari) where we can discuss each one in its own thread and this does not exclude those caught up to the series and those who are starting or in the middle of the series
