There are two formats you can use Calibre to convert to: mobi and azw3. Have you tried both? (I usually use azw3 because it doesn't over-compress the images). I also recommend using USB to load them onto the Kindle (Calibre can do it directly)

The Google Pay and Apple Pay options are for a quicker and more efficient method of adding a card to the site for a subscription. It is not a direct mobile payment.

At this time a J-Novel Club subscription can only be purchased with a credit card, debit card, pre-paid gift card branded from a major CC company.

@geetop said in Lazy Dungeon Master Vol 5 Part 2:

I noticed that if I change page turn direction form side to up/down -it will show words. It is very weird behavior.

What's basically happening is that the page is cutting a lesser-used HTML tag in half, and the reader is not properly handling it, so it shows a blank page. Changing the orientation/font size/etc. is pushing that problematic text all onto one page so it's then parsing properly.

I've fixed the text for v5p8 as well!

I checked and it seems I skipped Part 6

      Thanks for the assistance!

Next time I now know how to check on my rentals.

What threw me is in the App, Part Six was all in Green as if I read it. That is the reason I selected Part 7.

      Hello,

Feel free to post in WN discussion.

That being said we do have a “creative-writing”
channel on our Discord. It is a very active channel with several people participating. You may find more people to discuss with there than on the forums.

A link to the Discord can be found on the main site, at the very bottom of the page.

Not sure what Lightning is, but Fennec was discontinued a few years ago, and it's a really old version of Mobile Firefox. The current Firefox is called Fenix under the hood. I know there are valid reasons for using Fennec (there was some feature loss when they switched to Fenix) but it's generally not safe to use on the web as there are many unpatched security bugs in it.

@wildstars Thanks for doing the comparison. As for what you said about deflate vs. store (no compression):

We don't compress images in our EPUBs now because it provides a performance improvement when loading the EPUB in e-readers. JPEG is already optimally compressed, and adding deflate compression on top of it serves no good purpose. If you store an image without compressing it, the e-reader has to spend less work and memory loading the resource.

Regarding the EPUB spec, first of all, the EPUBs you download are 100% compliant with EPUBCheck, the EPUB compliance checker, which I have double-checked for Mapping V3. You are correct that if a resource in an EPUB is encrypted, you need to specify whether or not it was compressed in a metadata file in the EPUB, but our EPUBs are DRM-free, and as such the compression flag is natively available in the ZIP format for any e-reader. If you check section 4.2 of the EPUB3 container format spec you'll see OCF ZIP Containers MUST include only stored (uncompressed) and Deflate-compressed ZIP entries within the ZIP archive.. Therefore, storing without compression is perfectly valid, and I am inclined to say the ball is in FBReader's court, assuming there is nothing else wrong with the EPUB.

@strangeattractor so far there's only been one set of announcements, for 3 LNs and 1 manga: https://yenpress.com/2022/11/yen-press-and-j-novel-club-announce-print-publishing-partnership/

Yen Press' website is (supposedly) getting updated soon, so hopefully their website will be more clear. For now at least, JNC does have their own tag as well: https://j-novel.club/series?search=tag:"print by yen press"

@JRPG-Nation I think the authors are writing more in depth stories. most LNs have a self contained arc in each volumeand they may have had to split the arcs into parts to keep it running proper

Are you referring to https://j-novel.club/calendar ? It's possible that it considers the 4/1 entry to actually be 3/31 depending on your time zone, so it doesn't display it as April.

For me, it shows 4/1 data, but months that don't have entries for the first (like https://j-novel.club/calendar?year=2023&month=1 ) start on the first day with things being released. Yesterday, before today's entry was posted, the April calendar started on 4/3, Monday.

@Zehd said in Unable to open Arifureta vol 13 epub in eReader Prestigo:

I ended up converting the epubs to mobi and back again just so that it would convert the images to smaller versions

Calibre can convert directly epub to epub, provided you choose the right output profile for the desired image sizes if you want them resized.
