@qu1nch1a Partly Yes. If it is expired you could either buy it to read it or wait for a catchup month. Every months some series are made free to read for members. Like Black Summoner plus 5 other LN and one Manga this month. So as a member you can read all Volumes of it.

J-Novel Club has used Stripe as its payment processor since it first started almost 5 years ago. There have been no changes on that front whatsoever. It's more likely that there's something wrong with your card, which you will have to call your bank or card issuer to investigate.

@sea-sea If the first of the month falls on the weekend, the catch-ups don’t rotate until the first Monday. In this month’s case, the catch-ups rotated to the August titles yesterday.

The loss of the discount on credits is the main point. I'm out by $5 or $6 (if I ever intend to buy any more books) because of the consumer unfriendly buying process.

Edit: My math was off. Upgrading to premium should be $6, not $7, so I don't lose an extra dollar, just the initial $5.

@groxx Hey, yo, I manually went through and did a <small style="font-size: 70%"> on all her dialogue instead of using smallcaps unicode characters. Can you see if this fixed anything? If not, we can go for something else.

Can you post more information for us, like what device, operating system+version, and browser+version? I just tried on Windows/Chrome and that chapter works fine for me.

@gprovida Different forms for "I" or "me" indicate different genders which does not translate: such as ore or boku are often used by males (boys) and atashi/watashi is used by females (girls). There are of course people who don't follow that. In this context the it is used to indicate the person changes gender.
It would be fun to see more novels where this happens!

The way the JNC membership works is it lets you read the latest volume that is currently being translated. After a Volume has been fully translated it is compiled into an ebook and sold on all major ebook retailers. After the ebook has been out for a few weeks all the parts for that volume except a preview part are put into the vault.

So for Bookworm the standard available time has passed on many of the volumes. You can refer to the expiring volumes topic for future volumes that will expire.

JNC’s business model is twofold the subscription for up to date readers, and they also have an ebook model for people who prefer a complied book vs weekly releases. You can always buy the books of Bookworm (and any other novels you like) to show your support of the work.

It is important to know that every month JNC has catchup titles where several series are selected to all be put back up for all subscribers. An Announcement post will be made in the news section of the forums.

Taking a quick look at the site's FAQ may answer almost all of your questions, if you have any others, please feel free to ask.

@amakaze If you have access to the security agency that your bank uses for transactions you can tell them directly that you want them to change the restrictions for your individual card. I have had to deal with this myself with several online retailers and I just call the security company directly now.
Also I have told the bank I use that I am more than willing to get a new bank if they are not willing to work with me. It would be a hassle, but they got the point when I pulled half my savings and opened an account with a local credit union.
