@linksbrawler Oh, it's because of cronet. In the latest update that's out, we switched to using a better-performing networking library (cronet), but it seems that only works when Google Play services are available on the device. It should be possible to implement a fallback, I'll look into doing that for the next update.

Hi, just want to let you and anyone else who has had issues with the novel reader's performance affecting your battery life: we do have things in the works to vastly improve the novel reader, but I can't make any promises as to when that will go live. I can say it will probably be past Q2 this year.
Same goes for the manga reader, although I don't think it's as much of a battery hog.

@vorduran Took too long to figure out how to reach a person, but he was eventually able to push it through (finally). I still think their system is broken if that is literally the only way to access updated files instead of it happening automatically.

I've commented on this before: Amazon bends to almost any complaint / campaign of 'inappropriate' content in a LN/manga. (never mind that outright 'adult only' content is a-ok among general literature - but adult themes or skimpy outfits are NOT ok when the cover art style is pre-conceived as 'for kids')

all that aside: Bezos has enough $$ why help him get another nickel and forgo the bonus content (and better publishing/formatting of your ebooks) by getting direct (here) ?? DRM free and easily ported o your kindle device (or any other device if you change in the future), less money, (might even be free with your membership!) just seems like a waste

sure, buy 7seas content from Bezos if you must, but why spend more for JNovel titles and get less for it?

Yup, that's right the library is where you can download epubs and find out if your epubs have been updated. You can then use PC based epub readers, read them on your phone using apps like Moon+ Reader for Android, or at least for now unofficially use Calibre to transfer them to your Kindle. Amazon currently also allows you to upload epubs up to 200 MB via their website which will then be added to your Kindle: https://www.amazon.com/sendtokindle

For the avoidance of doubt, this is only for e-books you buy directly from JNC (known as premium edition digital books). This does not apply to prepub books you can temporarily access due to your subscription (including rentals) or to books you buy via third party stores like Kindle, Kobo, etc. You cannot download prepub books or rentals, and have to read them using the JNC website or the official or third party apps. I'm at home now and I'm no longer getting errors. I'm logged in as normal and the forums are working as they should. I also posted in the thread that I started.
