      Hello,

I have gone ahead and combined the various "part" topics into a single general discussion topic for Volume 23 of Smartphone.

This is to keep the conversation in a more centralized location for anyone who wishes to post about the volume.

As this topic's comments have been moved into the general topic for V23, I will be locking this topic down, anyone who wishes to continue discussing V23 is free to post in the new topic:

      https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/4761/in-another-world-with-my-smartphone-volume-23

@mortcs Thank heavens for that.... Sometimes I would miss some stuff because I missed a page at the end cause the previous page ended a paragraph or something so I didn't noticed. I eventually just got into the habit of rewinding and going forward a few times to ensure I got it all.

I much prefer the new app

      Hello,

Realist Hero V14, has started pre-publication on the site a bit earlier today, since the other half of this topic has not reached its conclusion yet, I will be leaving it open.

As always, everyone's patience is greatly appreciated.

      Thank you

@zz2000 You would think making an electronic version would be simpler, but too many publishers are stuck in the past.

@rahul-balaggan Idea: A little tiny link on the schedule page, probably at the bottom of the schedule, that says something to the effect of "Missing something you thought should be here?" and links to the main topic with this answer in it.

I think it is interesting that JNC has 'extras' in ebooks if/only if obtained via credits/premium membership whereas some other publishers only include 'extras' in physicals (and sometimes physicals at a particular store) --although for the most part this is true for original language releases (with Tentai being the notable exception)

I don't think it is quite a 'zero sum game' (every title that gets a print run = resources that cannot be used to translate/publish other titles) but I do believe that the way it is now, only the most popular titles (unless contractually obligated) get physical print runs. However; resources are finite, translators/editors are talent and their skills are not fungible (you can't throw just anybody in to do the jobs that Warnis or Quof do for example, because they are awesome.) So, there is something to be said about resources and allocation thereof. (I don't want to stick my nose into the workings /decisions internal to JNC- they do great and my non-expert opinions are not needed) That being said- if JNC decides to do a poll, ask for opinions :

personally, I don't need all of what I read printed on paper/stored/collected- but some things I'd like to see on paper, with fold out maps/color illustrations/quality bindings etc. (I've commented on the AoB fanbook previously). So, if there's a choice I'd vote for: "more content overall, even if much of it is digital only" vs. "many titles in print, but slightly fewer titles overall"

to sum up: if you're going to print something (and I'm buying) it has to be awesome/something special that I'll treasure/keep/show off. (and I'll pay top dollar) For everyday reading, I prefer digital

Really cool to see some of J-Novel's books involved in that promo. Hope Ollie enjoys it, cause she can bring A LOT of energy if she's having fun.

      @melting-sky Yeah, bout that...

      From Book 1:

      spoiler

See also: historical murder contests. It's really hard not to see the protagonist as taking part in the Rape of Nanking, especially when the dates match up too. Not exactly a great look when you're about to push the series hard with an anime and it's right when China is becoming a larger target market.

I can't speak to the specific logic behind this choice, as it never occurred to me to second-guess it (my understanding of Japanese is limited, but I do believe either would be essentially valid translations). Just my 2 cents, but I find "Imperial Thunder" unintentionally amusing because it's evocative of "Tropic Thunder." That movie has made "________ Thunder" inherently silly, and that wouldn't really fit the tone of volume 6. Like I said, that's just my opinion; I don't actually know.

I typically don't post on the forums much, but the long and short of it is - I had no power for about 8 days, then when I got the infrastructure stuff back I had a water line break in my apartment that destroyed a bunch of my work computer hardware.

I've fixed most of that - and fortunately JNC has gotten a pinch translator to help out with the rest of the volume, but I'm afraid the long and short of it is that I had basically had no way of working on my books until late last week (Friday was when my replacements came from Amazon) and am currently trying to get caught back up on work.

I'm really sorry for the delay.

@DivineGrace said in Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash Level 17 - Volume 19th translated date?:

@Rahul-Balaggan Based on your previous experiences how long does it usually take when novels catch up?

It varies to a great degree, and with the current state of the world the process is more in flux then ever.

I can recall some turnaround (pre-pandemic) that took about a month after the Japanese release, however (post-pandemic) it has varied to much to say.

Also, Volume 17 will start pre-publication on the site?

Yes, as J-Novel Club does for all of it’s titles, when they Light Novel is ready for release, the translation team breaks it down into a set number of parts, and those parts are released 1 by 1 until the book is completely translated.

This is the pre-publication or prepub part of the release process.

      Ludovico Secondo

Ferdinand has also something of Reinhard von Lohengramm to me, but it is very subtle as if the author met the character (or someone similar) and kept him at the very back of her mind.
