@letyasit That series isn't licensed by J-Novel Club, so it's not one they can sell. You can find it on the Yen Press website

Has there been any news/statements about JNC licensing sequel/spin-off series for Bookworm, Slayers or Full Metal Panic?

I do remember a comment from Sam on stream about Slayers Special being something they were looking at, but that was a while ago with no update. Slayers and FMP are definitely series which require the physical collectors editions to be worth picking up though, so unsure if the current print deal with Yen Press adds any complications to those series though.

@GeorgeMTO said in [Light Novel] Dahlia in Bloom became "on Hiatus" (Please NO!!):

@elkensteyin v3 of Lucia released on the same day in Japan as v9 of Dahlia (25th December, 2023). Dahlia has since had a short story collection and v10 release, and v11 recently got announced for November. Lucia hasn't had a v4 scheduled.

I'm unsure why JNC has put it on their hiatus tag, but it's not related to what volumes the author is working on in Japan.

I just saw that the hiatus tag has been removed from Dhalia. Not sure why, but hope it has a positive portent.

GerorgeMTO reply to that on the 2nd post this treat.
The translator stepped out. so was in "hiatus" because they have no more translator for following volumes.
I asume the translator from the Spin off (lucia...) had take the job to continue with the main series until Vol 4 of the Spin off.

      @Outinthegardener
Kei & Iori, um, no, never mind, while Kei got his after taking down a Dungeon Boss (or worse), Iori got hers from earlier in the dungeon.

The specific examples you list do support your theory.
Statistically far too small a sample size, but then again the current point of translation [end of volume 7] is indicating that statistics can hang, there is intent involved.
      Random drops aren't.

There've been musings [in story as well as in these forums iirc] that the first to trigger orb drops for a given critter is the one who sets what orbs they have the potential to drop; things have been far too convenient otherwise. iirc Kei & Miyoshi realize it's been too convenient...

@Lex said in If you could only read five JNC series- what would you choose?:

I'm not good with these kind of lists because I like many things and I'm sure that the answer I'll g8ve now it's not the same I'd give next month and that would be different from what I'd say next year.
Having said that, I'm going to cheat a bit and make two different lists based on two different criteria. The common thing is that I'm excluding series that are complete or canceled or in hiatus, so no Arifureta, How not to summon a demon lord, Monarer tamer, despite being among my favorite.
The two series I'm not going to give up no matter what are Rokujouma and The misfit of the demon king academy. I love both of them, and the former is the one that brought me to this site. As for Misfit...did you really think I can give up my weekly dose of Anos?
So, for the other mentions. The first list is made of series that are ending and I'd be crazy if I miss the conclusion. Those are Zero Believers, Realist hero and You like me, not my daughter.
The second list is instead made of series that I think will keep going for a while and would give me a food amount of content to read. Those are Infinite Dendrogram, Elf bride and An introvert hookup hiccups,

And, in fact, reading again this post makes me think if I shouldn't have picked Rebuild World instead. Which series would be excluded to make room for it, I don't know.

@Rahul-Balaggan Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly! I was so used to seeing volumes back to back I took it for granted! Can't wait to see the next one :)

It is the downside to catching up close to the Japanese releases. When a new series comes in, we are all happy knowing that everything currently released is licensed (normally, I assume exceptions can happen). But once we catch up, we never know when or if a new book will get licensed or when the translator will be free again. We know that J-Novel wants to continue, but so many pieces to the eBook!

@Terabyte said in Chillin' In Another World names:

@lighthawk96 In this case, the name change was appropriate for an English audience to keep the joke intact, IMO. Changing it back because the (JP) spoken audio will sound too different is what I don't get... I don't care about that kind of thing at least. 🙄

      Yup!
...this is kind of a cheap excuse!
How many times the audios said "oni-chan/-san, etc (big /-dear brother)" and we can read the character name (surename) instead in the subs!

So, doesn't really matter if in the anime they said "charun" if then the subs they can change it and keep with the initial "Tia" … to match with the actual translation.

(well, not now that they are using the original name).

@myskaros said in Any news about „Great Cleric“ Volume 11?:

@Zicco1 Unfortunately, "light novel" is simply a marketing term; it has no strict definition separating it from other types of books other than "is published under a label specifically for 'light novels.'" There are light novels that are 500 or more pages, and there are light novels without anime covers or insert art. Yes, light novels tend to be "anime-like stories in prose form" but other than that there's nothing special about them.

Is that so? I was under the impression that light novels usually were 30-50K words. I know of an exception (quite a big one at that) where the book was almost 900 pages long. But aren't books usually divided into light novels, novels or novella?
