@korppi And if you have it in your library already, it says, "Download available Dec 23rd, 2018".

I can just imagine how that felt. I love Neechu, but didn't have any history with it besides after I found out about it here.

That author has written a few other things since, so I hope we see more of them someday. =)

Went back to that list today. A few ones I really want on there:

    Sakurako-san
    Yakitori
Crest of the Stars (anything Space Opera esque I'd like, which I think that is).

And obviously the newer one by the Konosuba author (Combatants will be dispatched) along with his Konosuba spin-offs.

@terrence How would you guys describe the lasting appeal of Misaka and Kamijou's characters?

Not sure. My fellow podcasters read Index, so maybe they'd be able to explain (they actually recorded an episode on Index recently, but it's not up yet).

The OASG (who recorded the Anime NYC presentation of Yen Press for Twitter / Periscope) has an Anime NYC podcast up.
    https://www.theoasg.com/podcasts/its-not-my-fault-the-oasg-podcast-is-not-popular/episode-66-the-mostly-anime-nyc-edition/11088

The Light Novel Podcast is recording on Monday or Tuesday this week, but I have no clue when it'll go up (usually takes a week to edit, but we also have another podcast that's been recorded but not posted yet). Anime NYC focused and a tiny bit of Kono Light Novel Ga Sugoi likely too.

@spade Volume 9 has not been released in Japan yet, it has been getting pushed back month after month.

Also the last part of Volume 8 will be released on the site in 3 days.

@shrike_al Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken is also finished as well. Arifureta is technically complete as well, what's getting updated now is the after story, and since it has as many chapters as the main story it should be considered a separate series IMO. Bakarina WAS complete with 2 volumes in it's WN era, when it got picked up for publishing, the author went beyond that

@crey Oh, I wasn't trying to say I thought one or the other was necessarily better, I was just musing that we can kind of predict the path the story takes as we trace the technological advances throughout human history, so I wonder what will happen once he fully modernizes the world.

It's easy for Roland to say "we should move in this direction" when he has a road map in his head, but once he reaches the edge of the map, it's harder to be so confident that his decisions are objectively best.

Anyway, should probably end this sidebar here so that I/we don't start spoiling the story too much :x

@catstorm yes it seems to be the case but as noted by @unsynchedcheese there is an issue in regards to consent, I found the liberties taken by Ren to be very irritating since Mia is so innocent. Still at around 10% into the story.

@renofury Yeah, I Overlord fits peoples in different ways. I enjoy the "villain" POV and the moments of dreadfulness experienced by the protagonists facing Nazarick. I read/watch it as a dark story.

Sounds cool ! Thank you I'm checking this out :)

Admittedly, I skim read (if you can even call it that) a LN when I do look at one. That said, considering many LN vol. are 250-400+ pages, translation time is an issue. If it was 150-200 pages, translation time might reduces by mere hours or a few days (maybe a week at most, if possible).

A thing that does help, from practical and licensing standpoints, is if a LN title is a short series. For the purpose of this discussion, I talking about it being 5 vol. or less. Also, while licensing negotiations are happening, all LN vol. (main and side-stories) have been published.

I knew, but that was my question a long while back, just felt like sharing that I got it answered today (popped up on the Twitter feed). x)

@legitpancake said in Anime Expo: Times and Announcements:

@terrence so yen Press’ release of 86? What exactly does he say?

He said that he couldn't answer my question when I asked it originally as it hadn't been announced, but he can confirm now that 86 is coming by Yen Press to America, and to please wait for it / look forward to it.

I don't want spoilers, but they did answer a few other questions by other users that may be more enlightening if you can read Japanese here.

Edit: Looking at them quickly, a lot of them are plot specific, so yeah, if you're up to date with 86, those might be more interesting to you.

@seiya said in How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom -- Genjitsushugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki -- 現実主義勇者の王国再建記 -- Volume 8 not listed in comingup:

Anyone remember a Tia Lastania or new character? Some how name rings a bell somewhat...

Lastania is a country in the Union of Eastern Nations. To its north is the Demon Lord's Domain, and to its west - the Nothung Dragon Knight Kingdom.

Julius escaped there after his people turned against him and Amidonia was annexed.
The same country that Jirukoma (Komain's big brother) took his fellow refugees to become soldiers in the hopes of one day taking back their homeland.

We learn all this in Realist Hero, vol.5. (You can see Lastania on the map.)

As for Tia Lastania herself, doesn't take a genius to deduce she's the King's daughter. I don't think she was introduced in vol.5 though, so she is a new character.

@bloodygaikotsu said in What do you like to find in your novels?:

When I think of such dialogs, I always think of NisiOisiN and Spice & Wolf (Actually, every time I read smth by NisiOisiN, I feel like I wanna write something too)

I've just finished a Spice & Wolf novel, and the dialogue was definitely a huge plus, and it was partially that series to which I was referring. However, I totally get what you mean about NisiOisiN as there was some great lines in LN adaptations Monogatari and Katanagatari. In terms of anime dialogue I also quite like OreGairu anime (based on the LN by Wataru Watari). In a slightly different way the dialogue can also be quite fun at times in the Kokkoro Connect and Rokujouma light novels, and indeed The Tatami Galaxy anime (which is based on a novel) and The Empty Box and Zeroth Maria.
