I was surprised to see a bunch of unread chapters today when I keep checking the series page weekly.

It's even more of a surprise (and a confusing one at that) if you use RSS feeds to track releases for series you read. Apparently they were all uploaded at exactly the same time so in my RSS feed, they were in a totally random order.

Well, that was a tensionless cliffhanger of an ending…

This chapter also felt like more of a quick summary than is usual, racing right through his first lectures…

It really mirrored what was shown on the anime though, even the dinner scene with Carmilla. (Ya gotta love her sense of purpose...)

      This is not that series.
The author has totes done their research.

It would sure piss me off if someone who gives the impression of not being into something I was passionate about had received instruction from someone I wanted instruction from.
      Just...what the effing hell?!

...it may be that they do have an interest in this stuff but since it hasn't been entirely their choice they kinda deny it.

Sometimes it is hard to comment without referencing a related series, in this case Zero Believers.

      spoiler

Sounds like they've just reason to seek to advance through the dungeon, and they can be polite when needful. So lending them a hand when asked (especially when allowing him to experiment) isn't a bad thing to do.

      Eugene SpringSantafield, eh?
OK, that may be just a tad obscure of a reference.
And one I'm certain the author wasn't making.

@Ingraman Whoa, we got a gory shot of brains there, was this series that graphic before, or is this a bit of a leap? I don't remember.

It reminded me of the movie "Kill Bill" when Beatrix (Ulma Thurman) battles O-Ren Ishii (Luci Liu) and her Yakuza gang the Crazy 88. That was great cinema.

Yup. That was the end of the book. Now to wait for the next one to see what happens after the light show. :)

      Um.
      Yes.
But maybe not how you intended.

Well, she was probably intending/expecting magic to happen, and not just for swords to clang against one another. :)

@Kotenmaru Out of all the weird and bizarre depictions of MMORPG gameplay in this series, having a sizeable number of players simply not read or know of basic details is by far the most believable.

My MMORPG of choice is FFXIV, and every day there are complaints by would-be players who fail to realize there is a subscription fee for the game, despite it being listed in plain text everywhere one might purchase the game.

Players who don't understand the purpose or intent of an in-game event is certainly more believable than the devs having created such an event in the first place.

I like how it was depicted that Nilda would be better off using a shorter blade. It seemed more convincing than how it was described in the novel.

Wow… That seemed rather conclusive. I expected there to be a bit more story after she gathered all of the powers together in herself. Apparently not. Maybe I’d forgotten some story details from earlier books (or I was only paying half-attention when I was reading, as it’s not a favorite ;) .

@Kotenmaru that was Ricchan, not Nene. Nene is the one with short light brown hair that was passionately taking cell phone photos in Nanami's imagination.
