@pjthomas404 Oh, that one is a special case, just like Rokujouma. Both LNs are actually a "remaster" of the fan translations, so everything was kept in the same topic for those. I actually asked for a topic for each volume a while back too, but we're already caught up with both at this point, so no big deal. πŸ˜…

@sinnoaria Oh, I was just referring to the "list" part of the proposal. Similar to how you put an anime into your "Plan to Watch" list, you could put some novel into your "Plan to Read" list here. I think I didn't read the whole proposal carefully enough, so my apologies.

About this feature I mentioned, I supposed one could also keep track of his planned-to-read series through browser bookmarks, but there are some advantages to having it here (e.g. being warned when there's some promotion or related work to one of series you're planning to read).

I agree it isn't really important. It's just something I expected to have here because other sites I've seen have it too.

Those lists are interesting, so thanks for compiling them.

JNC could try to categorise novels into genres, although some though choices would need to be made. For example, lndb lists FMP under the following genres: Action, Comedy, Mecha, Romance, School Life, Science Fiction. Which of these would you categorise it under, or would it be listed under all of those genres?

What might be better is for the site to have quick links to the top 10-20 tags which correlate to popular genres and areas of interest and ensure each series is listed under at least one popular tag. Or people could have checkboxes next to each popular tag and it'd list all novels that have one or more chosen tag. Either way the principle is to make it easier for people to find what they are interested in without assuming that a novel is only in one genre.

@lixaxy ah yeah, the site does not provide notifications, but it provides RSS update for each series (or any combination of series). Grab an RSS reader for your phone, configure it to auto refresh regularly and notify you when there is a new item, that's the closest you can get.
Btw, the RSS link is at the end of the page.

I agree that as questions go it is quite frequently asked. Seems like if JNC wish to continue with this practice they should ensure that potential customers know they'll have to wait a day or so for premium.

I honestly don’t see that happening any time soon.

The quickest way to find out if a book has a pre-order out is to check amazon, check for the kindle department and sort by publication date, here is a link:

    https://smile.amazon.com/s?k=j-novel+club&i=digital-text&rh=n%3A133140011&s=date-desc-rank&dc&qid=1560086666&rnid=2941120011&sprefix=j-nove&ref=aa_sbox_sort

That way you can see the newest books to get ore-orders at the top.

@_08 well, ideally I want that with each update event I can compare it with a "watching list" and decide right away whether it matches or not; instead of comparing it to every title available to decide the exact title, and only then check if the title is in our "watching list". The complexity isn't affected much though (number of watching titles x number of event VS number of titles available x number of event).

@tgquan67 said in Don't log me out of the app:

if the android app uses some kind of webview, it's understandable that users will be kicked out.

It's not about webview. Framework just gives out tokens that expire in two weeks (though you can request it to last up to one year) regardless of what app or web interface you use.
Idk if OP refers to that but shiny mentions a separate issue and that certainly used to be the case at least in older versions of the app.

Yes, agreed. Gift options would be very nice to have.

Wanted to gift a year's premium membership to a friend of mine, but ended up having to just gift him the money so he could buy it himself.

@_08 said in Feature Request: Add a button inside the web to highlight/submit feedback about typos and spelling errors.:

That's a good point because there's a possibility that a big text file is all staff need, making full-fledged bug tracker too excessive. Most of work would be probably needed on the client side anyway, unless you want to discourage readers from submitting errors even more.

No, the goal is to make it as painless as possible for users to submit errors. Sometimes the backend needs to be complex in order for the interface to be simple. There are unique challenges here. I'm not aware of another publishing company collaborating with their customers to help proofread their content. At the same time, I also think it's pretty cool. As J-Novel grows, the problems with the current system will get worse.

An ideal system would eliminate 'noise' while being almost entirely transparent to the J-novel team and customers. it also shouldn't be complicated to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the application.

@djunis21 JNC has licensed from the publisher before, there is even a suggestion topic on the forums where you could show your support.

That being said whether they actually license it or not is up to the person in charge of JNC, plus another publisher such as Seven Seas or Yen Press could pick it up first.

Yeah, I honestly lock my phones overall rotation to combat this. I gesture while talking and seem to exude an earnest talkative person whenever I'm reading, so people think it's wonderful to start conversations with me while I sit and try to read whatever book I've gotten.
