That happened in the novel too, but the topic was never revisited despite several volumes passing by. I think the author intended to set up foreshadowing but then moved things forward in the plot outline, so now it seems like the topic was introduced too early.

I would advise against trying to steal Olivia's candy.

I read the manga first, and I personally prefer manga Merlin. (Maybe it's my unusual taste at work? I've noticed I have a tendency to love certain "garbage" series while feeling lukewarm about a couple of fan-favorites.)

In any case, I think "lech(?) who wants a harem of girlfriends (bonus if demihuman) and knows he's super hot ... until actually no, wait, he doesn't know how to handle this attention!" makes for a more interesting character than "dense humble isekai protagonist #194738 who hates standing out."

He might fantasize about a harem (because it's a Certified Isekai Trope and he's a "Healthy Male") But he's not getting into creeper territory until he starts oogling people's bodies. If he treats his fantasy harem as human beings instead of curves and holes, I don't see the problem with him wanting multiple partners as long as they all consent.

(I know a fair few people in open relationships. Also, men are allowed to be asexual/demisexual and there's nothing unhealthy about it.)

The manga gives both of their personalities some levity and energy that I appreciate.

I also appreciate that Merlin has a lot of trouble holding back his strength. He breaks writing utensils and might hurt his friends without meaning to. He sealed himself out of necessity, not just to blend in. Then he regrets it because of subsequent events.

So I noticed the manga started updating in Japan again, so it should only be a matter of time until there's a volume 3.

Liam shoulda put up a barrier to keep people out to begin with, and he coulda made it so it would allow his monsters/people to enter and leave at will.

Poison beast? Meh… I’m just not feelin’ it. About the same for whatever was fondling the MC, too…

I’ll wait to see how the next book starts, but I’m not finding this one to be terribly engaging. :(

That felt very, very abrupt. I guess that the wheels were set in motion on the correct path, so that the kids could continue the program without the old guy around, but still… Seeming likely to continue on for a while as the business goes through ups and downs and gets challenged, then one chapter later.

But there’s also no “See you next volume” or “THE END!” messages at the end of the book. Not that I recall if there were any “next volume” or “ to be continued” messages at the end of the previous manga volumes.

Wow. He just gets to hang out with the kitties now. :)

The manga does a good job showing the almost crazed look in Lily's eyes as she starts scheming to find out if it's Chloe.
