Really enjoyed this one. I watched the anime like a dozen or so times, so its interesting to finally see the source material and spot the differences. I'm also surprised just fast it moves. Are all the volumes this ort I wonder? Truly alight novel.

Love the textless cover. I think it's the best cover so far with the colors, though Marielle's smile in vol 5 gives it a run for its money.

Rereading as usual everytime the ebook is out, and once again something I noticed anew raised my curiosity about Marielle's brother, specifically what work he's doing in the palace.... Is "Is everyone in House Clarac raised to be a covert operative?" something you'd say with just one Marielle as example? Hoping to have more Gerard in the future. Maybe after married, Marielle & Simeon would play matchmaker for their single friends & relatives. Severin & Julienne for one, but we also have Gerard, Adrien, maybe even Alain.

@saskir However, they did not refer to Haku as the "Ivory Goddess", or by her full name. She was an "A-level adventurer". The guild knew who was being referred to, and Wataru did. And Haku did not go parading through town when she did show up.

When dealing with Dinne, Gozou thought for a moment, then acknowledged that Keima knew an actual goddess, but neither Gozou or Roppe ever met her, or any of her entourage.

Which isn't to say there aren't people in Gorem who know directly - The assistant town chief used to work for Haku.

(Not to mention, Gozou expressed surprise when reminded that Wataru is a Hero)

I noticed an inconsistency with future volumes in one of the bonus short stories: "Recollections of a Certain Nameless Volunteer Soldier" where "Leslie" is written as "Lesley".

@Shiny Yeah, pretty much my thought as well. I enjoyed it and would have enjoyed more but at the same time, it was a compact and efficient story so I don't feel like we missed out either even with it ending so soon.

I liked the first volume a lot and think I liked this one a lot too. I think a few pages could have been trimmed from the final fight scene, but that’s just my preference for character over action showing (well, usually my preference unless the action is as well written as FMP). Still an absolute hoot and I’m excited to have these coming for ages without much break.

took me a while to finish this volume but did enjoy it. Especially the creative use of spells and not just having hulking golemns. As for romance I want to see Kiara with Reggie he is sweet but in this volume he lost his edge to Cain

Ah, OK, so they're one of the translators who's a one-series-at-a-time translator. Which, honestly, is a perfectly reasonable stance, given how intense translating can be (source: I spent the better part of a semester translating 1850s German printed in small-print Fraktur into English, which was a thing).

Translating two series at once would be absolutely nuts, and I'm impressed anyone could even consider doing it. Doubly so if the two series have very different writing styles (*coughQuofcough*)

@myskaros Yes, please retain the original names. I actually google images throughout the story to see what they look like for both places and antiques. I also think that most readers of Japanese novels are already accustomed to Japanese names or they will appreciate learning about Japanese names and culture. Personally I was hoping the honorifics were kept because it informs me on the level of familiarity between the characters and when and if that familiarity changes. However, I am also fine with the absence of the honorifics since you guys are probably making it easier for the English speaking readers who aren’t familiar with honorifics.
