Almost finished volume 2 (epilogues). I guess spoiler warning if you're still reading.
I'd say this one is maybe a little more anxiety driven than the first one. Volume 1, really Mashiro was the only "problem". This volume, he basically has to dissect and figure out how to please five different characters (Otoi slightly, Sumire slightly, and then Midori, Iroha, and Mashiro majorly). I'd say these scenarios were more frustrating as a reader, and Aki never really figures them out (he just kind of figures out a way to table the problems or shift them off to other people).
I do think he's a bit more of a horn dog than he builds himself up to be, and his whole "efficiency" thing is a little less clear after this volume (efficiency doesn't just mean getting to your life goal quickly, but also doing it in the happiest way; ie, Midori ignoring helpless people to get to the play was inefficient for her "happiness", and her regrets if she did so would hold her back).
I was glad Iroha's secret was unveiled to basically everyone that matters at the school. It's going to be much more entertaining now that she doesn't have to hide her personality and skill as much. This is the kind of thing I like to see in terms of "progress" for a plot.
The way Mashiro's plot was dealt with was interesting too. I thought for sure they'd pull a "my account got hacked" kinda thing when her irl attitude to Aki didn't match the person texting him. But then they both dealt with the confession and the response respectfully. This does put her a leg up on Iroha at least (Aki still not taking Iroha seriously, but Iroha not doing herself any favors by trying to keep the status quo and playing off / trolling when Aki tries to be serious).
One thing I kinda hope for is his buddy Ozuma gets involved more than just being super awesome dude and end of chapter quip dude. I'd like him to have some romance down the line.
