this has been altogether one of the most mature ways I've seen of handling ero scenes. Masterful use of show, don't tell.

I understand from context who they are but have we actually seen this Bara character before? I don't recall them at all...

@Phabiohost to me it felt like the author had some good ideas but didn't develop them before they started writing, and as they added chapters they just winged it by haphazardly bolting on additions.

Contrast that with the TRPG author where it felt like they wrote out a novel's worth of background for the world (a full set of rule books?) for their own reference before starting on the story that we got to read.

But basically there was a variety of a certain vegetable that is not (widely?) sold out of Japan, and therefore doesn't have an established English translation. So sometimes we directly translate the name if possible, or we might just use the Japanese name and romanize it (if it's googleable - not in these cases), or we might combine one of the above with adding a little explanation. In the case I'm thinking of, the vegetable species was special for coming from a certain place in Japan. A Japanese reader might see the species name and think "Oh yes, those veggies from X prefecture," but an English reader would likely not. So the location they came from was added as a gloss in the prose too to highlight why the species might be viewed as special.

Uh huh, -muke is simply a suffix you can attach to a demographic to describe something targeted towards that demographic. e.g. seinen-muke is also a thing, since you mentioned that too.

Man, it honestly frustrated me that Alpha let Shiori "swindled" Akira.
I kinda doubt Shiori intended to put Akira at disadvantage; it's probably more like Akira would miss out something that he would have not realized was possible.
But still it feels shitty for Alpha to let this happened.

I'm guessing she just didn't want Akira to have connection with other Old Word characters.
Of course this isn't the first time she hid things from Akira, and he also knew that she did. I know that she always prioritizes her goals.
But Akira would likely to follow Alpha anyway, so it's annoying that she didn't say anything.

Also, I kinda like Yumina. Her dedication to Katsuya was off putting, but I like how logical and observant she was.
So, this assassination plan makes me dislike Alpha lol.

Yup. He doesn't move the plot. The plot moves him. So in order to move the plot along, you need other characters instead. So if falls on those around him to make the MC do anything plot relevant. He can't proactively do things on his own since that would require something he doesn't appear to have, agency.

Not that that made the 'mystery' any better. shrug

As I mentioned waaay back at the start of the volume, this one seems to have worked better as a Manga. The impression I got before I stopped reading was that Fii's inner monologue is just less entertaining than the manga's artwork was. And trimming some of the dialogue for page space probably didn't hurt either.

That said, I will remind however few people remain that there is a third volume in the series that was presumably licensed alongside these two. Despite how final the afterword seemed.

Though in the interest of not getting anyone's hopes up...

The climax and resolution was definitely something out of left field. As always, I enjoy authors exploring morally gray issues. Bonus points for calling out our ever dependable class president of class presidents.

I’m putting this series on my wish list of series to acquire, though it will be some time until I catch up with other ongoing series in my “buy” list.
